If it revs out high in 1st after a heavy foot then something isn't communicating surely??
The gearbox ECU must know the engine has reached a optimal point and should drop into second...

Are there any other warning lights or symptoms in any other areas? Abs, traction control for example..

No, Nothing at all except my engine management comes on occasionally with high pressure on the fuel rail, but doesn't correspond to when the gear plays up. I know there are problems with th S/C and change over pressures inthe rail on lpg but wouldn't think it was due to that.

Hmmm, ok then gearbox history.
Do you know of any oil changes or filter changes and where they done correctly?
It's ok when someone tells you it was done 6months ago, but if it wasn't done correctly or exactly...
Is there any one or even yourself who could varify the oil level or even the condition of the gearbox oil and start there!..
We need some gearbox master's around......

All i know is i bought this one from a as far as i can find out, a reputable company. I have all the receipts for it from a LR specialist garage, so i had no thoughts of it not being legit. I'll see if I can check out the box tomorrow.

Sorry lonestar, not meaning to knock it's background. Just a means to clarify if it's doing what it should with what should have been done..;)

Ok,
I've just found the receipts and there was a gearbox fault, it required a gearbox selector arm. It was fitted and has had the software updated in May.

Do search on the procedure for the level check. It should be at a certain temperature, run it through all the gear lever postitions while running so all the gallery's in the box have been filled, then you should just have little drops of oil from the oil movement inside the pan when you undo the plug..

Depending on the gearbox type and model, plastic sump or metal sump also. ..
Different versions of the zf6 have a refill point on the side and the other is on the underside of the sump....not to sure of the configuration on the sport..
