I now have two land rovers, a RRC and a disco 1 which atm both do not work :bang

Just changed my P gasket after spotting a leak from it and after refilling the coolant I just can't get the heaters to run hot. I have searched and tried everything and there are no signs of it being the head.

I was just bleeding from heater pipes on the top of the engine and when I removed the heater inlet hose from the top it was just a trickle into the matrix, does this mean the water pump is not pumping with enough umph? The heater outlet hose (metal bar across the top) had no water at all coming out of it until revved hard.

I jad been told the water pump was new and when I looked it over while doing the P gasket it looked ok.

Any help or ideas greatly appreciated.

you tried bleeding the system again? take the small hose of the top of the thermostat housing (that runs to the collant resevoir) stick a drill bit or a bolt in the hose to block it off and fill the system up untill collant comes out of the stat housing. could be an air lock preventing the flow.

I'm going to replace the Britpart pump today and will fill that way fella cheers!

I'll keep you posted!

Take off the pipe accross the top of the engine to the heater matrix then attach a hose pipe to it and turn the tap on, somtime it will take a while for water to come through, these are realy bad for air locking, we always force bleed with a hose every time we have to drain a cooling system on 300 and 200 tdi's.

Is the expansion tank supposed to be so full?

Filled like you said and heaters were hot within 5 mins, turned off and opened the expansion tank which dumped loads of water out which when started again the heaters blew cold even after a good 15 mins (doh). Re-did it and heaters are hot again.

I had her running but I don't think the thermostat opened as I ran out of time but I'll check the expansion tank in the morning and run her again, poss take her out for a drive to get the thermostat open.

Opened the expansion tank this morning and there was pressure + mucho water pi55ing out.

I am taking a guess that once the stat opens the extra water will fill the rad up and solve this issue. I'll do that in the morrow, kids dragged me round Chatsworth today and me feet are done in lol!

Filling works every time using a funnel in the stat housing and the top heater hose off pointing up and an old heater hose on the metal pipe also pointing up. I fill till water comes out of the heater hoses then rejoin and fire her up. Heaters warm in 5 minutes.
