Brought a Landy to LZ11. Yay!!
Can't believe it - it always comes in 3's - bad luck....

First, it was the bloody rear door lock spring snapping just before we go to france!
Second, the blinking front brake line needing replacing when we're over there
And now - I need a new windscreen after an almighty stone chip that quickly developed into a crack on the way home!

Rung the local windscreen bods - £300 all in.

Autoglass £75 XS on insurance, but the obvious bending over on renewal.

Booked in with AG in Cardiff on Monday - anything I need to watch out for or be aware of??

Had mine done a few weeks back paid the excess, just had my insurance renewal and was more or less the same price as the past 3 years. (With Flux)

Had them back out this morning funnily enough as it leaked, where its a heated screen and they pulled the wires down they took some of the adhesive with it hence the leak. All fixed now though.

Make surw they cut it out from the inside.or they will ruin the trim around the outside of the window.

Cheers for that haigy..

If they bugger the trim surely they got to sort it though?? Mind you that'd be a ballache

The trim has like a lip on it that sits on the glas then they bond that to the landy.so they need cut it from inside.if they break them then arent cheap to renew so be best to tell em do it inside or find a place that will.coz thats how its done properly

Prolly why they insisted on me going into the regional depot and not being done by a mobile!

Woman taking the booking thought it strange enough to recheck it twice. So they must anticipate possible issues and want to be next to their big warehouse of bits, internet and close to main dealer/bearmachs

Haigy I worked for AG and autowindscreens for years and did many disco screens we always replaced the trims as they bend when you take them off the glass try looking in the latest issue of land rover monthly the have an article on fitting the screen ps if your claiming of fully comp insurance all trims and clips are covered and it will not effect your no claims bonus

Thats how the guy who fitted mine did it.so i trust his actions as i watched it be done. No damage at all to any of the trims.

If you ring your local landrover parts place youl find that they are expensive.so to replace would hit anyones pocket.so to save money would be easier from inside but its up to them.i only gave advice on my experience of it being done.

Did they put a new heated screen in, or just a basic one?

Well, what a joke!!

Screen was fitted - new surrounds all round. Managed to pull the lining off the head lining even more than it was - it was dropping at the front and hanging down by about an inch, now it hangs from about 4-5 inches!!

Not only that - the bastid screen LEAKS - it leaked within 15 minutes of me driving away - I naively put it down to chemical residues as the car stunk of chemicals and the rivulet smelt the same.

Few days later, just left the house and pulled in down the street, river down screen - after NO rain.

So, after a few days of rain - it runs down the screen - but not until you're off and running and turn slightly , big turns = big rivers! Right in the field of view in 2 seperate places - just on the drivers edge of the rear view mirror and right in the centre of the steering wheel. So its dangerous!

Chap due tomorrow between 3-8pm to sort it. Fuming is not the word as my stereo and dash clock have now started playing up since this - radio fails to operate - it kind of dimly comes on and then seems to fade out (no sound) and dims the clock and clock won't hold time and 'resets' to 1.00 each time you start the car.

Needless to say their MD is going to have a bit of an email until this is sorted and I'm back to having a functioning radio and clock, oh and what I've paid for a non-leaking windscreen!

Was booked in for 11am. Drove off about 14.30pm

Have no clue what time job was actually started as I'd lost the will to live in the waiting area and chosen to wander round to Halfrauds/Tescos/Wickes etc!

They shouldn't let you drive it for atleast a few hours. Ideally over night. In at half 11. Means even if got started at 12 they would have taken an hour minimum So half 1 say. Leaves an hour for the glue to set... IMO not nearly long enough.

just phone them and tell them its leaking they will reset it get them to come to the house that way you can leave it for a bit before driving

Due here between 3 - 8 - however it is bloody spitting rain.

Pondering going outside and throwing a gazebo and tarp over the disco - or is that just pointless?!?

Job Jobbed - their warranty chap turned up - but couldn't do it on side of road outside house so nipped down the street to the yard behind the community centre.

Needed a full new screen as the depot monkey had hashed it up completely - had to destroy the screen to get the rubber surround off!! Too much sealant on bottom not nearly enough on top!!

When he dragged the tool across the top he was really fast through the 6 inches on the passenger side - all became clear when the screen was removed - a thin trail of sealant like you get at the end of a tube!! He was not a happy bunny with his colleagues shocking lack of detail.

This guy however was top notch - he took pride and time in his work.

First drive now so will report back if it leaks later!
