Hi folks my vacuumed pump is leaking and I have a replacement. The big book of lies Haynes says the engine has to be at tdc for it to be changed. Is this really necessary and if so how do I easily find tdc.

not really its just to ensure cam which has 2 lobes is not pushing on pump ,slacken off all bolts before removing any , once pump is off turn engine over to put lobes top and bottom before refitting
