hi, i' ve just bought a 300tdi, which has 2 remote center locking key fobs, never of which work. the red led on both fobs work put never will not operate the door locks. all the doors lock and unlock on the key. does any one know how to set the key fobs?
thanks

If u have a single button remote and the battery is ok then try the following:

1. Starting conditions: ignition off, doors unlocked,
bonnet switch depressed.

2. Carry out instructions 3. to 9. within 8 seconds.

3. Switch ignition ON.

4. Switch ignition OFF.

5. Lock doors.

6. Unlock doors.

7. Release bonnet switch.

8. Switch ignition ON.

9. Switch ignition OFF.

If alarm is correctly accessed, horn will sound and
LED will light. It is now possible to programme two
handsets of correct frequency to vehicle alarm ECU.
This must be carried out within two minutes.

10. Press and hold down button on first handset until
dash LED flashes.

11. Repeat instruction 10. for second handset.

12. The LED will extinguish if both handsets have
been initialised correctly.

you'll need someone to help you unless you've got increadibly long arms, but if the re-programing doesnt work then most likely the fobs are dead, as mine were when i got my truck. Remote Key Fob Replacement can sell you a new one. they cost 50 quidish but will work. i got a "new" LR one on e-blag but it was dead already too, so eventually stumped for the replacement. good luck. DD :)

hi, that might be worth a try. so far i ve tried the reset, but when i get to the release the bonnet switch the horn doesn't sound. so i guess next step to test the horn switch.
thanks for your input

i ve got the horn to beep during reset but it still won t work. it look like it will have to be the new fob - thanks for the tip

I have recently purchased a two-button fob, and can get into the programming mode stated above but it does not accept either of my 2 fobs, even though there is a brand new battery in them.

Should I have a single or a double button fob for the below model?

I have a 1994 300Tdi, with what looks like an alarm ECU with an antenna in the passenger footwell (Antenna going up N/S A Pillar).

U should have single button fob which is user programable, a two button fob is used with passive engine immobilision and isn't user programmable.

*Make sure the fobs frequency is the same as your ecu.*

Hi y'all I neeed to resurect this thread

I have just aquired an M reg 300 Tdi Disco from my brother along with two 1 button keyfobs that he never got round to programming in. The Disco is definately a 1 button motor, does not have theextra alarm in the wing or the programming harness under the steering wheel.

I have run through the 3-9 numerous times with stutab on the bonnet switch, we have tried quickly, slowly, left the vehicle a whole day to reset before a clean run through, but the alarm refuses to enter programming mode.

The alarm does work, ergo, unlock and open any door other than the drivers first then open and the alarm sounds via the vehicle horn.

My broter has owned it for the previous 5 years and always used the key.

HELP does anyone know how to get it into programming mode in this instance? What could be stopping it?

Maybe the ECU is not receiving the signals from the fob, iffy fobs or ECU, ecu antenna has become detached for instance.

I cannot actually get to the stage where I can add the fobs !

I go through the steps to put the alarm into teach mode

.

But the alarm does not respond with a toot, nor does tha alarm light come on.

Ergo, I cannot proceed to adding the fobs.

Cheers Discool

I shall save a copy of that :) .

Its a while since my last Disco, but that was a 300 ES with the later alarm and fly by wire.
