The injectors seem to have 3 tubes/pipes/hoses running to a them.
1) the main fuel line
2) directly to the right
3) directly to the left.

I just noticed that the furthest(closest to the firewall) injector on my engine, the #3 hose (directly to the left) is missing.

What is this?
And could this cause an engine to smoke under accilleration?

IVE just noticed mine is to, surly that would allow air into the closed fuel system.
 
will check mine in the morning and post back the info

That connector is sealed off and doesn't have a pipe to it. The excess fuel leaks off via the top of each injector, heading towards the front of the engine, then from the last injector feeds back to the FIP.

No, there isn't supposed to be a pipe there, so it won't cause the engine to smoke under acceleration.
 
If it was open fuel would be spraying out if you could even start it.
It's blank as the pic above. Overspill returns via number 1 injector on the 200 TDI, assume 300 would be the same.
 
Cheers chaps, that would explain why I have no pipe. Why not just make that banjo with a single pipe? Oh well.

Off the top of my head I'd say it must have been easier to adapt the mould to have one of the pipes filled with metal than to machine one with the pipe missing.
 
But I remember rightly, the 200TDI banjo was a single pipe. Oh well it doesn’t matter I suppose.
