may seem like a silly question but when fitting a new cat back exhaust how do i fit the the back box section? ive got the centre section fitted but the back box section is proving a pain to slide i’ve the rear axel.

do you have to drop the rear anti roll bar? or is there a trick? thanks

It doesn't fit straight in, you have to lay it over, push it in and rotate it as the large bend goes over the axle. It might be worth jacking the nearside body/chassis up, so the axle droops if it's particularly tight ...

yeah the trying to get over the axel is where i’m getting stuck, i was out there for ages trying to work it out lol i jacked up the whole rear end from the tow bar but jacking the near side might work. i seemed to keep hitting to rear anti roll bar at which ever angle i tried to go in on so didn’t know if it needed lowering down?

Can't recall doing anything when I changed the rear end of my exhaust, certainly didn't need to touch the ARB's. They were removed for green laning, but months after the new exhaust had been fitted.

maybe some more effort should be put in then when it’s not dark and i’m not tired lol

i will have another go tomorrow
I replaced mine not so long ago- and the back box and bend going over the back axle is not straight forward- literally, it is curve the bend around the suspension at 90 degrees- then rotate back- jiggle and then connect. I had the whole body off so it was easier - but jack the rear up, and remove the rear n/s wheel just to get a better look [and the extra space may help].

yeah i think having the rear wheel off may help some as that did seem to halt one of the ways i thought may work.

appreciate all the advice

Yes just remove the rear near side wheel, and approach the axel with backbox pipe upside down ie. opersite to it’s fitted position and twist over the axel. Simple really, I fitted my Janspeed within a half hour 10 years ago ( the original lasted 11years) so won’t be doin that job ever again. :)

I found it easier to unbolt the exhaust hangers from the chassis and fit he rubbers to the pipe so fitting the exhaust with the hangers attached, hold the exhaust and bolt the hangback on, saving the hassle trying to fit them on the hanger under the vehicle.
