well basically my 300TDI has developed a problem when its up to temperature. When its at temp its tick-over vibrates more and there's a metallic sort of "bink" noise in time with the engine.

A friend of mine suggested an injector not working properly as we traced it to somewhere around piston No.2 . We've also had the rocker cover off and had a test of the rockers but couldn't find anything that would seem to cause it.

Any ideas?

I'd go with BB, mine used to 'tick' and it was eventually found to be a broken exhaust manifold stud. Easy fix ..

we checked them roughly (it started tipping it down with rain) and they were all alright. its a bit more of a dink rather than a tick. gonna check the injectors at lunch and then go from there.. and do the valve clearences properly

exhaust is fine. took an injector and cleaned it. think the problems got a bit better , definatly a bit less vibration. but now need a new injector washer...
