Hi,can anyone advise please.I have used low range with diff lock to tow a car out of the snow, slowly for a couple of hundred hards.I then transfered back to high range but the diff lock light has stayed on.I have tried moving the lever back & forth quite a few times.Could it be the switch stuck on or could the diff lock be stuck on in high range.I have seen on another tread to reverse for a few metres, which i will try just thought you guys might have some other answers. Many thanks

Sounds like the diff lock is stuck on. How far have you driven with it on, and on what type of road surfaces?

Jack an axle up, then turn 1 wheel, if the other wheel turns the same way, the difflock is stuck on. if it turns in opposite direction, then it's just the switch.

also try driving in figure of 8 slowly to release it

center diff lock only lock tbox diff to give drive to both axles jack one wheel and try and turn it if it locks diff is engaged if it turns switch stuck under neath the vehicle using 13mm spanner you can turn diff lock linkage on top of t/box toward gearbox for out of diff lock or towards chassis for in diff lock .in t/box diff lock selector is pushed by a spring and so sometimes needs to be pushed further to release or apply diff lock

I have had this a few times and is was always cause by 'axle wind up'. It isn't the diff lock light but the diff lock itself that cannot release immediately.
As someone said above go forward and back a few times and you should find it will release & the light will go off.

lets eliminate the simple things first, the origional post says youve "tranfered back to high and waggled the lever back and forth a few times,"
moving the lever back and forth changes between high and low gears... doesnt touch the diff lock
diff lock is actuated by moving the hi/lo lever sideways, in high or low gear... left for lock ... right for unlock.... often a bit hard to move as it dont get use often.... light often takes a few yards to go out after the lever is moved

check ricc's first, then jamesmartin's.
gafferjim's will turn the opposite way regardless, tho if your in neutral and the prop turns your diff is unlocked.

For anyone elses reference when searching on here. Mine was stuck in Diff lock, even tho the lever appeared to be over to the right.
Tried the reversing trick for 200 years and its sorted. Id like to say I wont try that again, but its meant to be good to keep these things moving isnt it ?

As for just reversing, it's way better to also turn steering left and right at the same time, so that the axles get some different rotational speeds between them, which is what the Centre diff lock is trying to stop!
