You could always swap the battery out of the Freelander when your missus isn't watching just to try it

I find that if I must jump from a vehicle, it's advisable to slow down first. If you aree jumping from another vehicle it's best to jump from a doozil as petrils don't have as much oooph!
They should ideally be going at roughly the same speed ... elfin safety!I find that if I must jump from a vehicle, it's advisable to slow down first.
guys - just an update to close this one off, tried all checks suggested above but still no luck, did however manage to jump it from the freelander and so went and grabbed a new bat (100 quid lighter!) - all fine now.
Thanks for the help and banter, good bunch of people, tar!

but in the end you always have to bite the bullet and cough up.
Glad its sorted, though £100 seems a bit steep for a 300Tdi battery - as I said further up, we've had three die this week, so I'll swap your bill for mine, if it helps
Aye, and sometimes the bullet makes me cough a bit ! (Bl**dy weather )
yer it is a bit steep i agree, price you pay for a local small market town tyre/battery shop i guess - still good guys and i am lazy/cant be arsed with waiting for something to get delivered!
If you're getting good service, that can be worth its weight in gold
