 Any suggestons on how to fix the dash on my 1996 300tdi es dash part of the dash panel about an inch from the windscreen has lifted with the heat of the sun.
It also has problems with the door locks, drivers door is hard to open with the out side door handle and the passenger side door unlocks with the central locking but wont lock.

Lifting dash is a well known prob infact some dash tops were replaced by Land Rover under warranty in the early days. Now, there's a kit on the market to pull down the dash top I think it's a shaped metel strip with self tapping screws.Lube the door mech first and see what happens otherwise it's have the door cards off time and have a look at the lock solenoid ajustment and spray on some more WD40.Regards

Where do you get the dash kit from?

rjsdavis, sorry I would have put that info in if I knew but as i'm lucky not to have that problem I let the info pass over me. But LRO or it may be LRe did a bit on it a few months ago with pictures and the end result looked very good.

I have found a couple of retailers on Ebay selling these kits at about £45. It looks like you get two strips of something, and some screws, so I am struggling to see exactly how it works! It would be really useful if I could track down when this was covered by the owners mags, particularly if it had a "how to" guide, and some pics to show how to do it!

rjsdavis, I looked through my past copys of LRO and havent been able to find that artical so it must be in LRe which I give away, but what I can remember is that it took two to do the job one to hold down the dash top I think, so you can't pull it down with the screws there also may have been some triming of the top as the screws don't go through the top it's the edge of plastic trim that holds the top down (like a tread plate holds the carpet). Took about 3/4hour I think to do the job and as i said its looks good.

Thats a good link that discoverydti posted looks like the kit comes with all the instructions so go 4 it.. and let us all know how you get on.

Thanks for the post - this sounds excellent, however, one question and I am probably missing it here...

If it works like a trim edge that holds down the carpet (which makes perfect sense), how do you get to it, without either removing the windscreen or the entire dash top? It's always the leading edge (nearest the windscreen) that lifts, so I can't see how you would get to it, with either a manual screwdriver or drill (with bit) to get the screws screwed in with the slope of the windscreen itself!

rjsdavis, A very good question and I can c what you mean I don't think its that involved to fit the strips as I said this article on how to do it went over the top of me but I'm surprised that you haven't had a post for someone who has done the job. Perhaps try another disco forum (LRO) for an answer.
