More importantly. Remember that viscous fans ALWAYS undo in the direction of rotation.

You may be better off in the long term getting down to halfords and buying a double ended fan spanner, laser make one for £13. Worth having in your tool box.

Haha, propa spanna aquired and fan+cowling off and not skin missing would you believe, however still no luck getting the bolt in...
 
Screwfix do a water pump spanner for about £2.50 that does the job, although it says 22mm on the packaging!?
 
Job done! Ended up taking the radiator off to get a good look at the thread, tiny amount of grinding with the dremel and it engaged almost immediately. Mow I just have to wait for the battery to charge so I can try and start the damn thing

Nice, I always take the front off , it does make life easier and means you can get a real good look at what is going on. Plus you get a chance to run a hose over the intercooler and radiator from both sides easily.

just out of interest can you tell me the thread size and pitch may be good to have a tap in the old box for that(I'm a machinist so could order one in to do a rush job lol)
