As above, don't suppose anyone has one spare in Herts or near by? Or know where I can get one at short notice? The threads on mine are screwed and I can't get it to engage.

Depending on where you are in Herts , tis quite a big place. Dingocroft might have one in High Wycombe.

Cheers

Get yourself a thread file it will come in handy. Although how you managed to damage that i do not understand.

Thanks guys, managed to get one, haven't managed to get the new one to engage though so bit worried the internal thread is damaged as well...
As for how it got damaged it involves adjusting the valve clearances, getting distracted by a phone call during reassembly and then starting the engine having forgotten the 27mm socket and rachet still on said bolt :(

How long did it take you to remember? lucky you did not damage anything else. Did you drive far?....:oops:

Glad to hear you got one.

Cheers

Luckily didn't drive anywhere, started it, heard a horrible noise and switched off amid much swearing.
Struggled to get the new one in, and still haven't, might have to strip down the front end to get to it which I really didn't want to have to do.

Oooops, I can understand that the air might have been blue......

Front end on a Fender is not difficult, can be stripped down to allow good access and reassembled in a few hours if needed. I had to do mine this week as the flinger had come loose on the crank pulley, IMO, easiest way to get it off and refit.

Having issues again this morning, turns out I don't have a spanner that fits the fan, looking online it should be a 32mm but my 32mm isn't big enough...

The only two sizes I know of are 32mm and 36mm, I cannot remember which is for the 300tdi and the TD5. Tbh.
If you had to, you could try a punch and give it a smack, once they are loose they easily wind off.
How did you get it off before?

Cheers

They can be tight. I find sometimes the fan spanner requires a gentle tap to slide onto the nut faces. When it is off, I clean the nut faces with some scotchbrite.

Cheers
