Not sure sluggish is the right word............. doesn’t rev very quick might be a better description.

Any way. I’ve got 2 300 TDi's one will be going very soon as it’s quite rotten and abit bashed but I thought I’d ask the question as if its parts ill pinch them before it goes.

Ill explain them both:

Old: 95 TDi 130k on the clock. Totally standard apart from iv removed the egr valve. starts fine with abit of smoke let it tick over for five then press the accelerator and it revs reasonably quick (for a disco TDi) and puffs out abit of smoke not loads and........ feels sort of fresh and alive.

New: 95 TDi 145k on the clack 1 owner from new looks like it’s been looked after MOT and service history. This has no egr and a decat. Starts without really turning over there is no smoke not even when you rev it hard but it revs allot slower than the old one. There’s no strange noises like turbo pipes or anything but you can hear the turbo whistle.

Any ideas??

Thanks

P.S. sorry to waffle on.

Sounds like the fueling is a little on the weak side i turned the fueling up on my 200 tdi rangie (same pump) and it made the world of difference theres plenty of write ups around if you search for them on how to do it
Hope this helps!

aye brilliant thanks!! can you point me in any direction??

when was the cambelt last done, and by who?
did they set the timing up correctly?
would check before turning the fuel up, as you'd
be hiding the initial problem.

Sounds like mine with 190,000 on the clock. It won't revs cleanly when first started up. Once the revs have reached the higher rev range and the turbo has kicked in it will be better and fine when warm. I put it down to old injectors and hope to have them tested soon. Also when cold on overrun she kicks out huge clouds of blue smoke, quite embarrassing at times. Again fine when warm.
