well just looking for the part numbers for the throttle pot. the diagram shows a gasket (ERR4944) now i know mine doesnt have one and i did think it should. Could this be letting in air and therefore messing up the vacumn and stuff?
joe, sorry to drag this up again, but I have exactly the same problem since i bought mine, I have recently done the base idle 100 times!, engine oil changed and stripped plenum to do the rocker gaskets cleaned reassembled etc. new stepper motor, drop in revs still there, approx 300 revs, i put into N rev up, then into drive. I have found to up the idle to 1000 gets rid, but i think its just hiding an isse.
did you resolve yours?
the stepper is new and came with gasket, and torqued to 20nm as per haynes. stepper has been cleaned and made no difference. Britcar want 61p for the gasket a £4 p+p. looks like an old job card gasket will be made!!
The so called gasket is only a large fibre washer was it not
well mine was similar on my old 3.9, due to high miles no love (before I had it) a probably stretched timing chain etc. I had changed the tps dizzy amp stepper and afm and they were set properly but in the end with timing and base idle play the best we could get was about 500 ish rpm and it did come close to stalling on a hot day when put in gear sometimes, especailly with the steering on full lock. although it did always start with a rev rise and more so when cold.
ive seen and lse with 40k FLRSH and the engine was full of black sludge and one cam lobe had almost worn away completly. its the city work that fooks them up I think!
I would buy a faultcode reader from ebay for the 14 cux they are only £50
14CUX ECU fault code reader TVR Range Rover Land V8 | eBay
it will make your life nice and easy and save a fortune in paying so called experts to do the same thing and then over charge you for fookin up your car or telling you its fine when its not.
has your motor got cats fitted?
yeah cats, engine, exhaust all standard.
