I find that soft wire brush on a bench grinder/buffer is fine for aluminium, you know the one that is thin wavy wires with a brass coating, brings gasket trace right off :)
 
:doh: lol, well as I have to wait 12 weeks for my heads to arrive and I have not even ordered the bearings from aus yet I expect you will beat me to it so let me know how the cam is!
 
Finished cleaning up all the paper gaskets finally. . What a basterd! Ended up using some 5mm perspex and a bit of a clean up with a fine brass wheel as suggested by some noisy sod ;) also pressed in my new can bearings so now I can start reconstruction!
 
I used a bit more perspex(48mm wide) to push against the bearings on some threaded rod also had a bit of ali on the back of the perspex to keep it at the right angle, ill do one of my famous pics

Yea, its to stop it pushing the bearing uneven hence why its a bit long becuase just a disc of perspex would move about to much
