I’ll be putting it on a galvanised chassis. The bulkhead looks ok, though it’s had a few wonky looking repairs. So I plan on stripping it back to bare metal and trying to tidy it up.
The engine (2 1/4 petrol) runs well..it had a misfire and was running rich. I rebuilt the carb and lapped both sides of the body. This seamed to cure it but not completely. I found that the accelerator pump was sticking, and looking at the state of it someone had some pliers around it before. The spring was kipped over, thus binding on the bore. I wanted to get the engine running right before I pulled it out.
Here you can see the accelerator pump stuck. And the damage to the end of it implies it’s been jammed in before!
