the later snatch did just use std def calipers ut with allen bolts instead of std bolts holding the 2 halves together ,i had to go to NI to check what was fitted so we could build new axles for them as spares

I got hold of a salisbury off a armoured 110 the disc were the same diameter, just thicker
you might be right it was a while ago i do remember them as seeming considerably bigger but may depend on age and who built it i suppose i can only say on the ones we worked on for the mod , we fitted 3.9 efi in them to replace 3.5 carb l/c not the best idea

I bought a batch from NI ,was same diameter I just remember how thick the discs were and tyhe caliper looked like it had a sandwich plate

could well be they all have spacer ,couldnt be much greater in diameter to fit in std wheel size they did have much thicker spacer than normal ,have you got a stack of front saliburys then

Hmmmmm unless he through a lot of money at it don't think he would get a reliability engine after that big an increase.

I have had my one tested after moding it. It gives 148 bhp at the wheels.

The reason for tuning it though was it was a non runner when I got it I rebuilt it and thought why not its all in bits here so just do it.

Here is what was done

The head was ported and polished.
The inlet manifold was polished.
The crank was finely balanced.
EDC ECU chiped.
Larger intercooler. From allard
Turbo boosted a little.
EGR removed
Stainless steel exsaust with center box and cat removed.
Itg air filter

I updated the brakes to braided lines, better pads, drilled discs and silicon brake fluid. The brakes are probably a little too strong for it now. Because by fook dose it stop quick.

Thats good to hear and a nice figure, its got me intrigued about my power output...
Mine is of a similar spec to yours apart from I dont have the porting/polishing work done (yet) and mines non EDC....but I have the rest and a hybrid turbo. It needs setting up when done as i'm not sure where the fuel and boost settings are at but hoping I can use a MBC and hike the boost up once a guage is fitted. Goes well for a Disco now and as far as I know its running standard boost.

Long gone, I bought them for £100 each and sold for £200 each so they went quick:D

I did tend to hammer mine but wouldnt go as far as say its dangerous, I have trouble staying in the drivers seat more than anything else ;)

My 300tdi seems to be a mishmash at the moment so not entirely sure if its up to its full potential, it certainly feels faster than my last 300 Disco but not quite up there with my mates 300 90.

My 90 by any chance lol

And mine is standard :)

There was a military Defender at the Top Gear Live arena the other week.
The calipers on that were made by AP Racing. Discs weren't excessively big but the calipers looked like they might have been 6 pots at the least.

Maybe rather like these?

Very nice but a bit dear methinks

Bowler built a few Tdi race engines a few years back. Someone I know has one such 200 (lucky BASTID got it for next to nothing) and it is a totally different animal to a normal 200.

Forged everything, ceramic bearing shells, modified injection pump, etc etc.

Quite possible

Indeed, but there's a bit of a difference between an engine "tuned by Gwyn Lewis", as the seller states, and a race spec Bowler engine. :D
