Found this on the bay, i'm curious to know how he has acheived 220bhp....messaged him to ask only to be told "it take to long....total re build but its a essatamate not of a rolling road" :lol::rolleyes:

Is that figure even possible or is someone giving a massive over exaggeration?

In my opinion, the 300tdi is good for 150-160bhp at an absolute push.
This would HAVE to include the 3-point fuel pump mod, a full width intercooler and a variable vane turbo.

220bhp? Utter bollox of the highest order. A remapped modern 2.0 diesel VW/Audi wouldn't even see that!!
 
Allisport reckon getting power upto 145Bhp and that's throwing everything at it. Can't see anyone getting 220bhp out of a 300tdi. with out redesigning the engine
 
Id say bollocks as he is calming 2x original power, unless he has put a bigger hugher stupid turbo on it and the powers only over like 4000rpm which renders it usless
 
i suppose its possible if he has thrown a **** load of cash at it, massive turbo, massive intercooler, fuel pump tweek, twisted performance / alive tuning exhasut system, sillicone hoses, egr blanking so on :p I know this is a td5 and they are much more powerful / tuneable but - yeah here you go - this must have cost a bit! :p I doubt though he has actually achieved what he said (on ebay)

There's a guy on d44 forum running a defender with I think if my memory serves me right near 250 bhp from a 300 tdi it has a VNT turbo an he was saying it leaves tuned td5s for dead
 
Aside from the usual bolt on bits, pump tweaks, porting/polishing etc what else is there to do to the 300tdi for more go?

Aside from cranking the boost up to 3 bar and living on hopes and dreams....
 
You can tune anything, I had a 1.6 8v 100bhp engine, exshuast mods inlet mods head mods and came off the rollers at 165bhp. That was mashing together this and that, which no one had done and said it wouldn't work, I drove it hard for 2 years on the road and track and its still been raced now 2 years on and still going strong on standard crank rods and pistons.

My 300tdi feels dangerous having a tweaked pump and turbo landys are not built for speed,

If I were thinking of buying it I'd be hoping that he's spent as much on the brakes as the engine

I did tend to hammer mine but wouldnt go as far as say its dangerous, I have trouble staying in the drivers seat more than anything else ;)

My 300tdi seems to be a mishmash at the moment so not entirely sure if its up to its full potential, it certainly feels faster than my last 300 Disco but not quite up there with my mates 300 90.

Doubt it, as nobody makes significantly uprated discs & calipers for a Disco 300. Defenders they do as they're on the military stuff but not Discos.

A custom set made set up would be around the 2k mark.
I know this as I've looked into it due to all the extra weight on mine, but can't justify that price tag.

Could you not use some other manufacturers calipers and custom mounting brackets?

I've got a mate who works in the performance brake disc & caliper manufacturing business.
He's looking into it for me and your idea is currently an option. :)
 
you could use the larger pistoned defender calipers ,later snatch just used those with std vented discs

There was a military Defender at the Top Gear Live arena the other week.
The calipers on that were made by AP Racing. Discs weren't excessively big but the calipers looked like they might have been 6 pots at the least. :cool:
 
the earlier snatch used similar large calipers still only 4 pot with huge discs we used to skim them as they were £120 each
