hi everyone wonder if you can help me . i have a landrover 90 that we have fitted a 200tdi engine and gearbox in . been running lovly but the last few day is been slow on 1 and 2nd gear when cold then yesterday last night to be true coming home i lost power like not getting fuel . so been messing all morning with it bled the system started it had it ticking over not smooth as normal but try to rev it very slow and now ruff idle some black smoke puffing out no high revs just a ruff idle any glues what to look for. check pump fuel coming out of pipe lift pump got pressure so what can it be...:(

black smoke is a sign of overfueling. This is either due to too much fuel being pumped in or, more commonly, too little air. I'd be checking turbo hoses for signs or splitting, coming off colapsing or delaminating. I'd also be checking the air filter is clean and still in situ.

check turbo hose all ok think it might be lift pump leaking air is going back into fuel filter just bled it from the screw at the top and bubbles was there ..so thing an air leak

Ho yeh, check your hose from the air filter box to the turbo, this hose has an internal membrane, when sucking air, this membrane, if not in good condition, will collapse and block the air substantially...

good test is just to take it off and drive around a bit without it, carefull where you drive though, you dont want anything going into the turbo... or just get a plastic hose of some sort and stick on the turbo.
