Hi all
My beloved 200TDI has ongoing problems with sidelights and indicators. I can't keep them working... New ones from any source including Land Rover seem to be: a) all the same and b) nasty. The bulbs either don't fit in the 'ole or are so loose they fall out.

MOT is due last november...

I was thinking maybe fit lights from a later model like puma which seem to look the same as original but must (surely?) be better quality - would that work, I don't mind chopping off connectors etc but some pictures seem to show lights with no wire attached?

Or do I go for LED's? There are lots around on Amazon and all the usual suppliers. I would rather keep it looking original - even though it is no beauty I don't want it to look 'blinged up'.

What are your thoughts - late model genuine or aftermarket or what?

Regards
Paul

I have fitted LED Wipac indicators and side lights - the units are waterproof, much brighter than the originals, but still look stock - until you're close up. You need to fit the indicator relay for LEDs and, depending on the age of your landy, you may need to cut the plugs off the lamp units and fit old style bullet connectors. Easy peasy and a worthwhile upgrade IMHO.

Is there a reason you can't use those adapter pieces? E.g attached. It's a job that's on my to do list somewhere in the future.... And that's how I was planning on fixing it

No reason at all, although it is another joint in the system. I cut them off and soldered bullet connectors on to suit my old wiring.

OK the job is done and I'm very pleased. The new Wipac lights had short leads with connectors. I cut the connectors off and for the rear lights soldered on the leads from the old lights, thus maintaining the correct colour coding. Connected using Wygo (I think...) lever connectors and all is well. They look very smart and acceptably original.
Just a spot of chassis welding and off to MOT - they still do MOT's right?
