Tidy looking motor. How are the front inner wings ? Have just replaced mine. I have a factory fitted 200 RRC been driving it every day for over 10 years..... great motor, will cruse at 70 all day and do near 30 mpg's. Yes a bit noisy but if you like the sound of a diesel then that's none the worst..... if you don't.... turn the radio up !!
Spares always handy to have...... didn't have to look to close to find it on mine...... not quite sure what was holding the head lights in place !!surprisingly solid. I think they will rub down and re paint without any welding required. But will need to investigate properly when its home and in the workshop. I still have the original set off my 1984 RRC sat outside the workshop so I know where to look closely for the tin worm
Tis true what Saint says.... the head gasket blows across the cylinder wall and out the back of the engine, very distinctive 'chuffing' sound when running.Saint.V8 I got most of what you said but can you confirm the HGF bit please.
I have just fit a LT77 in my 1984 V8 and had to cut the alloy tunnel cover. In my 1988 I broke it was a hole that the gearstick lower gator screwed to then a plastic cover over it. I haven't taken the trim off this one yet. I'm hoping that it will be a simple bit of welding then put it on the road and do bits over time as I want it for my daily run around. My 1984 is my main priority as I need a Long wheel base coil sprung land rover on the road before the 20th May as I have booked into the ALRC Nationals.looking forward to seeing another restoration, just finished my 1986 classic 200tdi and manual box change took me since beginning of december and putting it on road on sunday 1st march, just one problem the central console doesn;t fit the manual gearchange. been looking out for a manual console but they are like rocking horse do da.
