@Paul in Sussex , three options come to mind [I too have a 200tdi but with a new original type copper core with brass header radiator]

1. take you new alloy radiator and oil hoses to any good hydraulic shop/company and they adapt for you. You could call Pirtek and their local man in a van can come to you.
2. send back alloy rad and buy a new copper core with brass headers radiator as this will ensure guaranteed original fittings. The drawback here is that they're £360 [from memory], the plus side being should this original type of radiator fail they can be readily repaired/brazed.
3. take your old radiator along to a radiator fabricator and they'll readily make up a new copper/brass unit for you with the right female fittings - there's a very good radiator repair place in Caversham, Reading.

+ just thought of a fourth option, call PA Blanchard and see if they have an original in their stock.

These were from pirtek. Unsure of the sizes.
I just take stuff to them & they sort it out. Problem can be it’s more expensive.

@Paul in Sussex So are you saying you have a male threaded stub sticking out of your radiator with an O ring seal just inside it?

Pics would really help;).

If so I wonder if the pipe end that was shown earlier would fit?

The old fittings may well screw out but they won't fit the new rad as it is welded ally. Fittings on new rad are 'O' ring type, presumably for a later vehicle?

Similar question to the above really usually the radiators have female threads that you then fit the oil cooler pipe adapter to to make male threads and the adapter required depends on the pipes being used. Some pics might help but are you saying the fittings on your radiator are already male and you do not have the option to swap them over like the original has?

Post #334 onwards on the thread here LINK is the oil cooler discussion from my engine swap moving from the old cone style fittings to the new o-ring style fittings. The issue you will have is what ever is at the engine end (from the sounds of yours the old cone style fittings) will dictate what you need at the radiator end as the pipes are not interchangeable on the engine end. So your options as mentioned above will either be to get an adapter or change the radiator so you can fit cone fittings, or get some custom pipes made up from a hydraulic supplier.

I thought I would finish off this thread as I left it hanging.

I fitted the Chinese ali radiator but didn't connect the oil cooler pipes as the holes in the fittings on the radiator were absolutely tiny, far too small in my largely uninformed opinion to flow enough oil. I also had concerns about passing engine oil through a piece of junk. The fittings where the oil cooler pipes bolt on are standard size, albeit wrong type but looking deep into the fitting the hole necks down to a few mm. The radiator was also too tall so I had to pack up the plate across the top.

Why didn't I send it back? Because I ran out of time. I bought it, had issues, put it to the side while working overseas, came home unwell and by the time I focused on the problem the time-window for return through Ebay had ended. I could still have done something legal no doubt but this issue of junk parts is now ubiquitous and I can't spend all my time arguing the toss over Chinese crap and mendacious retailers.

The outcome? Well the rad is in and works. It doesn't leak which is better than the Britpart one ever managed. Without an oil cooler the engine hasn't exceeded 75 Deg C but then I'm trundling around Sussex not hauling trailers around Morocco. If I have to I will fit an oil cooler and electric fan.

Not a success story but that's the industry. The vehicle is on the road and not hurting itself.

Happy days eh?
Paul
