 assume your talking about the Lp pump.

you said you could hear it running so no point in tapping it.

can you confirm.......you had no fuel emitting from the return line at ignition on when you checked injector leakage?

if so what i'm suggesting though is you confirm it is actually delivering fuel and not just making noises.
you can either take the pipe off its outlet to check or take the pipe off the inlet to the Hp pump and check for delivery there.

Lp pump in behind right rear wheelarch liner ..............shown in this thread below........

no i woz talking about the fuel injector pump?
the lp pump under rear arch is definately making a noise but will check 2 see if anythins coming out?
could the alarm /immobiliser cause any issues?

ok well no point in tapping the Hp pump. They're reliable apart from the occasional one with external leakage.

just confirm it's getting a good supply of fuel for now.

you can try the fuel reset button rear passenger side of engine bay but I believe if that had tripped the fuel Lp pump wouldn't run.

shouldn't be the immobiliser, it would prevent the engine from cranking

Hi codpiece my brother inlaw has an 05 facelift model and has exactly the same issue he has been driving with no issues and then last week he took it out and on the return journey the car started running really rough like only on 3 cylinders upon turning off the car and restarting it really struggled to restart it’s been a week now and it goes to fire up but won’t start the low pressure pump is working as it should but now confused now as to what the issue is as the car was running fine before hand have looked at some threads and some mention the o rings on the hp pump regulator causes issues also there are no fault codes stored so don’t even know where to start

He's not been on the forum since 18th May 2012, so don't be surprised if he doesn't reply.

The easiest way to tell that, is to pull off the LP connection at the HP pump, but make sure the end of the pipe goes into a suitable container. The LP pump should deliver several litres per minute, at about 50 PSI of pressure.

When I changed my under the o/s/r wheel arch it was so badly corroded that it was only held in place by the fuel pipes. Mine was knackered after 7 years so heavens only knows how bad a 16 year old pump will be.
