HI GUYS

Ongoing problems with my Range Rover.
I bought it with a leaking airbag on the front, so replaced, now has an electrical issue I think....

So on start up I get a select neutral message, also abs, steering angle sensor and air suspension inactive.

I can clear all these faults and the suspension will work 100%...until I switch the car off and on again....then the messages will reappear.

im guessing this it a permanent live being lost...but where to start.

I'm sure this is an abs issue, that causes the air suspension problem.

I've added a video of the problem

Thanks guys.

That's with the engine off obviously....over 14v with engine running....is 12v too low?
12.6 and above is 100% charged
12.5 = 85% charged
12.4 = 65%
12.3 = 50%
12.2 = 35%
12.1 = drained

These are figures with the engine off..

If its low the L322 will go mental..

Very sensitive they are..

Thanks...very interesting...Ill double check the battery later.

I believe on an l322 you should be looking at 14.8v at 2000rpm with everything turned, lights heater what ever you can run.

Considering it keeps coming up with SAS errors - I wonder if it is indeed fecked.....not unheard of!

If the SAS or the ABS goes into fault the EAS will follow suit and place the system on hold (which is what he has - light on the inhibit switch and standard height selected)

The ABS ECU has been known to fail due to heat damage.....

I had a thread on here about it and also a video of the inside of the ECU......search function is broken as is searching for threads etc....will have a look.

They have also been known to suffer water damage in the ECU connection, ther ewas a tech bulletin released about it by LR, again I did a thread about that too and the replacement short harness....will see if I can find them.

Thanks much appreciated.

Is the abs Ecu part of the abs pump?

There was also a recent thread where a guys car would need the the steering angle reset every time the ignition was turned off so had to do the lock to lock every time.
It was around march this year, he had a broken wire going to the steering angle sensor I think.

Not sure why we cant search at the moment but i looked back around March but couldn't see it, the guy went through all his wiring diagrams looking for permanent live around the abs sensor and steering angle sensor and i'm sure it was a wire to the steering angle sensor.

maybe it was earlier than march ......

Without the search function and the 'Your Threads' also being on the fritz - I am struggling to find all my posts about it....

Summary is:

Where the ABS sits is above the exhaust and it was similar on the E39 5'er Bimmers.....they suffered from heat damage that would cause one of the tiny-weeny wires in the ECU to become detached from the board.

I had a recurring issue that I could not fathom - I changed the wiring harness as water had been known to track down the harness and into the ECU connection, this was on a Tech Bulletin issued by LR so I changed that! still happened, so I swapped out the ECU, had it programmed to the car (Thanks to Rangers of Guildford) and all was right with the world.

I took my ECU apart and found a tiny little wire had indeed become detached - I did a video of the wire and one of my threads on here shows me taking the ECU apart etc.

Here is the video of the wire:

The ABS ECU is mounted on the modulator valve block, the ABS pump sits below this unit.
