Hi Everyone, I'm having a problem with the aircon on my 2004 freelander 1, the aircon is not kicking in when switched on. I've had it at my local indy who has checked, re-gassed and re-checked, now he tells me that I need a new instrument cluster (YAC501150PMA) as the sensor which detects the outside temp is reading -10000, he tried another sensor and got the same reading, he then tried another cluster (sensor plugs into instrument cluster apparently) and got a reading of 23 deg, but he didn't start the car with that cluster as he was scared for the milage to be transferred. So he thinks that the sensor which is reading -10000 is preventing the aircon from kicking in, and the only cure in a new instrument cluster, does anybody else have any knowledge of this problem? It sounds feasable to be causing the aircon not to come in, but if it doesn't work it will be a costly fault finding lesson.

Ok to my knowledge there was not an exterior temp gauge fitted to any td4 Freelanders from the factory - it was just for North America KV6 models.

Anyway, the instrument pack on the td4 controls the air con and is configured using T4 to ensure it controls the air con.

That would be what I'd try first and also using T4 you can display the different parameters in the instrument pack related to ac to check they are all working etc.

Thanks td4van for the info, makes sense now, I know the local dealer will have a t4, are t4's available to the general public to buy, or is there alternatives?
