A new member asking for advice on nicking a Freelander?

Why would you need a new fob and barrel? Chances of both going together are (excuse this) 'remote'.

Given 'dodgy' nature of request, I'd say tow it to your LR garage with your ownership papers and they can provide what you need and sync the CCU to the new fob.

If the fob key battery is duff then replace and to sync you will need to press open five times. The key for the drivers door should open if the car battery is good. Can you see a red light flashing on the dash. The rear door will do nothing or tailgate with the key as the key is only for rear window to lift up by turning clockwise. the fobkey pressing open near will allow the tailgate window to drop fully.

The barrel may need wd40 as they can go very stiff from lack of use due to fobkey regular usage. As for replacement I would hold slack until confirmed fob battery, wd40 on barrel and make sure the car battery is healthy. A key and barrel can be expensive as you need to fork out a match set costing nearly 200 notes.

I have put a new battery into the fob still nothing also when I put the key into the lock it does not seem to fit going to try wd 40 in the lock will post how its done and thank you for your reply

put a new battery in and there is no red light looks like ive been sold a dud car can I purchase new key fobs and do they need to be programmed to the car thanks

Best go for a local auto keysmith as they can reset the code to the car. Also check your car battery to see if this poor charging. When I bought mine 2002 td4 they sold me a pup as the battery went flat. I bought a new one and a new fob key which solved my access. As for the lock try WD40 route first but if the key still fails to enter it could we be knackered barrel. What is the shape of your key and how many keys do you have? If your able to get in does your car start okay. As for the barrel if this does turn out to be duff you have three choices 1 use the remote fob and forget the door key. 2 buy a very expensive replacement near 200 bear chits. 3 buy the ebay version and except having a key for the door only. Sometime with petrol cap being used regular this can be used by the cheaper key depends on the rear door. I chose the latter for the barrel lock but from the main supplier rimmer bros during the black Friday.
