Anyone got an engineless disco 200tdi hanging around from which they could extract the engine mounting brackets off the chassis? Would be appy to pay postage and sort yer a few beers if u can help me out.

I am fitting disco 200tdi engine and gearbox combination in me defender, but the engine is much further forward and so i need to acquire disco mounting brackets and weld em on the chassis.

Before anyone starts on about gear levers, the box has been modded so that they come up in the right place.:p

Yes sir I do. Could probably extract them tonight, but not likely to be able to sort postage until next week (working away until Monday).

The Disco engine brackets are not the same as Defender brackets and will not fit you ve-hickle.....

You will need 'Defender engine brackets' not 'Disco brackets' :D

n/a engine mounts? Do they work if he is replacing a V8?

TBH I have no idea what the original engine was, but if n/a mounts will work then go ahead :)

The V8 mounts are different again mate.....

If hes replacing a V8 I had to move mine back wards to fit the Disco engine.

The n/a mounts will fit tho ;)

Guys, the engine in there at the mo is a transit di:mad: so fook knows what mounting brackets are on the chassis, but whatever they are, i don't have the N/A engine mounts, only the disco ones that are on the tdi lump.

Somehow i need a matching pair of chassis brackets and engine mounts, seemed easiest to get the disco 200tdi brackets and weld em in at the right place. I assume the gap between the chassis rails is the same on disco and defender chassis, so that should work.

Only guessin tho', could be completely wrong....

The engine brackets that came with the disco engine will be these

When these are fitted to the disco engine the big bolts you see in the pic sticking out dont fit your defender chassis (The bolts will sit on your chassis rails rather than in between them)

You will need these kind

I just found this pic on ebay where their currently going for 10 quid (At auction)

You mentioned about 'welding' them straight to your chassis...... if ya needed to get your engine out any time after youl have a reet job on......

These engine brackets bolt onto these (Also on ebay)

which bolt onto the 'chassis mount' plate (Sorry cant find piccy of these...)

So ya may as well unbolt ya disco mounts of your 200tdi, sell em and get some money back for your defenedr ones!

I hope this helps mate :)

The bit i'm after is the chassis mount plate that Scott refers to. If i can get the disco version of that and weld it on me chassis at the right point i'll be larfin.

Andy - are you still ok to hoik those ones off your disco chassis?

Landy ad man your still missing the point! You need the 'DEFENDER' chassis mounts off a 'DEFENDER' because you have a DEFENDER!

You mean your fitting the disco gearbox too?

are you aware this is longer and will sit further back than your defender box, your gearbox will end up where your cubby box is now! (i think??)

If you are sitting the engine forward to allow for this then i can see why you want to weld on disco mounts as norm defender ones will be no good..

am i understanding this correctly?

My mate put 200 + gearboxes in his 90 and he had no problems , even the oil cooler pipes fitted as the engine was further forward.

He used his old 90 mounts welded further forward but if you dont have them weld the diso ones on if you can get them.

His transfer box lever was in about the same place but his gearstick was behind it just on the forward edge of the seatbox. But you wont have that problem if your levers are right.

just get the transfer box in the right place for the props and your laughing, even the disco downpipe fits without fouling the bulkhead, it's miles off:)
