I have just drained 15 ltrs of unleaded from my td5.it was more petrol than diesel still runs tho barely.prob done 10 miles before i discovered the mistake.
have bought a new fuel pump, fuel filter.will add 40 ltrs of diesel and pump round before starting.was thinking of adding some 2 stroke to lube where petrol washed.anyone an idea on the safe amount in 40 lts please.

I tend to use half a litre of two stroke oil per tankful quietens her down considerably

I add 2 stroke oil in my 300Tdi engine at 200 to1.
Definately worth it. Its quite possible you cpuld be ok with refilling with diesel and running the engine. The 2 stroke oil will be a big help.
remember to come back and tell us how you got on.
Always of interest to all on here what the outcome is.

cheers

Being a newbie here, I have not come across running a TD5 or any diesel, and I have others (RAV4 and Audi A6) with 2 stroke oil at a 200:1 mix. Can anyone explain why it has a noticeable effect, although clearly it will provide better upper cylinder lubrication? Does it have any long term damaging effects, does it make it smoke, or coak valves up?

I wouldn't bother changing the fuel pump, just drain the tank and replace the filter,I don't reckon 10 miles on petrol will harm the pump:)
