I have bought a 1998 low mileage 300 TDI and whilst I can get my head round the more mundane part replacement stuff, I'll happily listen to some well seasoned advice from the peeps on here.

I want this puppy to look as good as it runs so, help me with the below, please

1) I want to get some Matt black Zu Alloys with Goodrich tyres, what would you guys/gals suggest and what remedial work/parts would need to be done to support the 18x7s?

2) I think I will need to get the suspension lifted, what is the best package? Bearing in mind I am only going to use Light To Medium Duty.

3) Where is the nearest 4x4 shop I like to support local independent businesses unless the cost is prohibitive.

4) Would you chip it if so which one for general overall improved performance?

Thanks

+2

All been asked before fella, the search button is below the google search box. ;p

And dont put 18" wheels on a defender, it looks ****, you will look a turd driving it, its not big(well it is, thats the point), and its not clever. :D

Also your limiting your tyre options and what will fit under your arches, so if you want to take it off road you wont have as much articulation and you might not be able to get a good choice of off road tyres.

Didn't think you could chip a 300 TDI?

Your nearest local 4x4 supplier really does depend on where you live!!! Based on the quality of your questions - probably somewhere in Essex.

As for the other questions - Search and ye shall find.

:pop2::beer2:

This is going to be fun............. Someone wake up Doc :lol:

Wonder how long you last:rolleyes:

Feck me Landy snobs, get a life!

Feck me Landy snobs, get a life!

Who me?

OK let's make this simple so even a ****ing idiot like you might understand.

How can we tell you who your nearest 4x4 specialist is, when you can't even be arsed to put your location in your profile?

Where exactly do you plan to put this new chip in your 300 TDI? The only way I would imagine you doing it is with 50 litres of chip fat into your tank. But by all means, go ahead and shell out £300 for a re-chipped ECU - perhaps you can mount it on your dash to remind just how stupid a knob head you can be.

If you want to fit 18"x7" wheels, then do so. You might want to go for 50% profile tyres while you are at it. But don't ask in one breath for "well seasoned advice from the peeps on here" then dis the first advice you get. Unless you plan on restricting your off road driving to Tesco's car park, pay heed to the advice given about limited articulation, poor turning circle and limited supply of suitable off road tyres.

Are you sure you've bought yourself the right car? Surely a Corsa is more up your street, and it will give you two or three years to modify it before you're old enough to get a provisional licence.
