Currently have a 19j in my 89 110 and actually considering putting a 2.5n/a into it instead of the usual 200/300tdi/ isuzu or fourtrak conversions.

It has 212k miles on it and although its seems to be going fine at the minute I'm afraid that it could give up the ghost and i want to have a fresh(ish) n/a engine ready to go in.

Would it be a straight swap? What about power steering..

I think the n/a is exactly the same engine without the turbo and you can fit power steering from a later engine.

Yea i know it's the same engine but without a turbo. But mine is the 19j and has 212k on the clock. Taking the turbo off would be pointless now. I was thinking of finding a good n/a and putting it in. They seem to be bullet proof. Slow and steady..

Yes and if I put a na into the landy I can use the power steering from the current engine and use it for spares too.

Nobody said to take the turbo off. Just put the na in, it is a straight swap and they are good engines.

Oh I thought that's what huddy was getting at. If I had the funds I would probably go and put a Isuzu trooper engine in. They are more common over here than disco's

No idea about Isuzu, but you wont go far wrong with 2.5 na, folk I know that have them love em.
If you buy an unknown sh engine it might be worth changing the cambelt before you put it in.

Other than getting a new cam belt into the 2.5n/a what else should I do before doing the swap? Obviously new filters but anything else? Suppose I could replace all the belts while the engine is out..
