hello all,can anyone explain to me please what exactly the coolant sensor has in relation to the fuel system and what effect it would have disconnecting it.also is it poss to change without draining the coolant system if your quick.thanks
 
hi dont think it has anything to do with the fuel system,there can be up to 3 sensors under the inlet manifold 2 of them can be changed quickly and easily with only minimal loss of water 1 towards the front of the head is a bit of a swine as fuel pump is in the way so easiest way is to take inlet manifold off but you do lose water then
 
The ECU temp sensor, usually the blue one, has a great affect on fuelling. It tells the ECU the engine temp, and along with inlet temp sensor controls the amount of fuel injected from cold right through to hot.

How do you lose water removing the DSE inlet manifold?
 
cheers matey,the one connected to the inlet manifold is the intake air temp sensor,then theres the 2 behind the fip,i,m presuming the furthest from the front of the car is the coolant sensor but whats the other 1?fuel temp.

Fuel temp is on pump, other is dash gauge. Just depends if you have EGR or not where inlet air temp is situated. EGR in MAF without EGR on front of manifold. Brown one usually dash gauge, blue usually ECU temp sensor.

cheers wammers,obviously i could be ****ing up the wrong tree here,but the fact my car hesitates to start hot or cold and these sensors play a big part in fueling i,m hoping its one of these thats fooooked.cheers
 
right then gents,just been out disconnected the coolant temp sensor,started with a couple of cranks-yippeeeeee.and i have,nt used it all week.question is will it hurt the car to run without it.i can,t get one till middle of week.
