Anybody know if these are the same?

When sticking a disco 200TDI engine in my LR90 i used the flywheel and flywheel housing off the N/A 2.5 diesel, this allowed me to bolt the 200TDI straight on to the defender gearbox.

Got the engine running and its smokes like a train and runs lumpy when revved, went to check the timing and the TDC line on the front crank pulley doesnt line up properly with the mark on the flywheel?
Ill have the timing cover off tomorrow to make sure it all lines up

any advice is much appreciated?

I would go with the crank mark as you know thats correct.
What colour is the smoke?

flywheels are basically the same except timimg slots 200tdi tdc and 2.5 exhaust peak but some contain both

Many thanks, if i reverted back to the correct 200TDI flywheel, could i keep the N/A flywheel housing, will the drain / timing plug hole be in the correct place?
I thought i was being clever using the N/A bits as this allowed me to bolt the 200TDI to the defender gearbox with no modifications

it wouldnt help with your timing pin as 200 hole is on underneath,

The flywheel housing i took off the N/A has 2 timing holes if i remember correctly, one at around 2 o'clock and another underneath at 6 o'clock

Underneath at 6 oclock is where the tdi one is, I wouldnt worry to much as front timing mark on outside of timing chest is good enough and its way easier to get to.
If you remove the inj pump inspection cover the round bit on the front held on with three m6 screws, remove the crank pulley thats all you need to do, you may be able to do it with the crank pulley still attached?
Tdi timing pin kits on ebay for about 25 quid, they also include the flywheel pullet which is very handy to have.
