Hiya mate was this engine removed from a RRC? the white plug which has the wires needed to run the engine.. I cant find this plug in my loom. Mine is from a 95 disco
you will have a plug with thick brown wire and white/purple wire amongs others some times its a brown connector

Guys I am really struggling with the wiring for my efi and am loosing interest as after hours of reading I don't seem to be getting anywhere with it.

As per photos before I have spliced into wires by white plug and have connected as follows:
White/purple-fuel pump + fuel pump - to chassis
Brown to + on battery
White/grey to ignition barrel connectors when ignition is in on position

I have - on batt goes to chassis a braided strap on right side of head goes to bulkhead and another at front from engine block all as clean earths

The only other connections are + from batt goes to starter motor and old diesel fuel wire cut off goes to + on coil

At present I have no relays clicking no spark and no injectors firing when I fit a per, ament feed to fuel pump.

I have checked and ecu has 12v going to it as well as relay connector blocks but nocliks and it's not doing anything other than turning over

Questions I have:

Is there any other wires I have missed out?
Does existing loom need to be spliced into efi loom anywhere the starter leads don't go into the efi loom at all?
How many and where do earths need to go?
Who knows someone in Hampshire that can do this for me and what do they charge?

Your help would be greatly welcomed

Thanks Josh
Will relays click with how I have this wired

Are these earth wires from efi loom or earth wires from head to chassis?

Only ask as I don't have any black wires with rings on?

Ahh I wonder where these are then? I only have engine loom from rrc will this still have the black wires then?

I know I'm sounding really stupid James but struggling big time, is it these wires from the loom that provides the earth to the ecu circuit?

you probably haven't touched them, they are bolted to the rear of the left head.

James you are a star I found 2 black wires on there own in plastic conduit with bare ends attached them to the head and bam main relay clicks and fuel pump relay clicks fuel pump runs when cranking then fuel relay clicks 4 secs later can't believe how 2 wires make a huge difference still have no spark though or injection as plugs are dry after cranking.

Further questions
What makes injection work?
I have 2 wires from loom going to coil, wire from maf going to negative and old fuel shut off lead from diesel going to + any ideas?

Yea it's got the 2 for amplifier and the single one near maf do I need to put in a live from ignition or starter to the + then?

Just put a wire from + coil to switched + ignition and bam she fired straight up will dress all wires in properly take some photos and will make a write up of it to continue the conversion

Thanks James

Hiya TMO Im at the point of starting my 3.9 conversion. The dash turns on, the relays click on and the engine cranks, but no spark and dont think the pump is doing anything, but it does work. What is it you have done to achieve spark and get it to fire over? I dont want to sound like a numpty but im pulling my hair out

is coil wired up correctly ,does pump run for 4 seconds then go off when ignition on ,then comer back on when cranking

The coil is wired as it was in the discovery i didn't unplug anything i just unbolted it from the body and sat it on the engine with wires still connected. But it might need something extra added to work in my vehicle? And no the fuel pump Dosnt seem to do anything. Its connected to the white purple and earthed to chassis. But it does work perfectly when tested with a pos / negative straight to battery. Shot fuel right over me!

If they do both click what's next? as Im 100% the white/purple to fuel pump isn't sending a signal to prime fuel pump when i turn the key
