ive just sold my discovery 300tdi and bought myself a 2000 rangie 2.5dt county. reading the parkers web site it states the DT county comes with 12 less valves a bigger bore than the engine in the DSE etc...., but is slower and has a higer co2 output. just a bit confused that landrover would put a less advanced engine in a newer vehicle or whether this is a misprint on the parkers website. Is there indeed a difference between the 2 BMW engines with performance etc..... just hope i havent made a mistake in buying the county....

Mis-print or whatever, the engines are the same (although there is always the tincy chance I could be wrong, certainly doesnt look that way when looking through the parts catalogue).

You will probably a tiny bit more power and economy from it than a DSE/DHSE as it lacks alot of the features these more expensive vehicles had such as A/C etc etc

thanks wills, although it has climate control, cd changer and same toys as other rangies i have viewed in the past months, only lacks heated seats really, which is what has confused me also, i can only assume that these where expensive extras. thanks for your response this really is a very helpful website and very much appreciated.

I too have a 2.5dt and the only differences are in trim as I too have climate control, leather, cd changer, etc. What it doesn't have are the wood trims on the door cards, no wood trim around the stereo or hevac area, no sunroof (which I didn't want as it lowers the headroom and at 6'6" I need it!) black bumpers not colour coded and no heated seats and electric height adjustment on the drivers seat but all other movement is manual. That's about it as far as I can think of. Engine all the same, mine is a late one with EGR but as far as I know it's the same as the earlier one other than that.

thanks very much mate, really chuffed with the car its a 2001 and far more advanced than the discovery i part ex'd for it..

I think that Land Rover must have loaded all the toys into the cars as they came to the end of the production run, as the new model was on it's way it would have been harder to sell the existing one. I have just bought a set of 2006 19" wheels for mine as I had the 16" alloys, I'm just waiting for the wheel nuts etc. to arrive so that I can get them on the car, I did test fit one wheel and they look the dogs bits, I can't wait to get them on there!
