What's the sphere? That tank thing under the driver's side floor area, near the inner sill? Brake pump abs thingy ran then stopped but ran every time the brake pedal was pressed once.
The sphere is the black ball by the expansion tank on the left of your first photo.;)

I reckon you done good
Of course your brakes are rusty, they are 20 years old
Of course your ABS thingy needs changed its probably 2O years old too and has done not a lot for four years and will cost about £120 and ten minutes work,
After that just get a to do list and work away thru them.
Your EAS works so happy days and it will break just not yet

Thought it was going for £1G? Still think you are on a winner. 106k keep an ear out for the water pump bearings ;) £40 to fix if you catch it before it goes

Yep for the cost of a water pump it's worth doing as a recomissioning of the p38, this is what happens and they get hot very quick

You still done good. If the box is okay
And now your a proper RangeRoverer next time the misses starts humping your leg you can give her one good and plenty ;):D

Having a bit of a mare trying to sort out a trailer, recovery truck wants £180 and doesn't know when he can do it anyway. So a trailer it is.
I've got to travel a bit to hire one (£65) but they are a small family business and are all on holiday , back a week today. However, he has no idea if a P38 will fit his trailer, says it will take a car 6 foot wide and the trailer is 16 foot long.
Will mine fit? It's got hurricane alloys if that makes any difference and the

tyres were quite wide but I don't know the actual tyre width.

I measured to fit through the fence @74 inches.
Manual states 74.4” (without mirrors) , 185.6” length (bumper to bumper)
EEC kerb weight of a Diesel Auto is 2130kg unladen, with full tank + 75kg driver.

That trailer is no good then.
Found a bigger one but that's even further away but the same price. Things have changed a lot around here, never used to have a problem getting anything, all cash in hand and good customer service to boot. All these places have gone and it's mostly shirt and tie places with prices to match.
I'll sort it somehow.
Another question....the battery is completely knacked, car won't run if jump leads are disconnected. If I take a good battery with me to get it on and then off the trailer, will it immobilise itself or something even after I've fitted the good battery? I don't know at this point if I have the eka(??) Code doo dah I recall vaguely reading about.

You want that EKA. It could throw a strop as when you connect the battery the bonnet is open. You could be okay though as it didn’t throw one when you started it up previously. The original owners handbook had a card in it with the EKA (for original engine becm) stated on it. Look for it when you get the paperwork. Be sure to memorise it!

If it does play up will likely ask you to put key in ignition and press fob button. If it works is all you do.

If you're worried just take a jump pack to start it and get it on the trailer. If it's been standing for years and started with a jump start you may be lucky just changing the battery. mf31-1000 is the one recommended for the diesel from battery mega store I think the name was. Last time I used them mine cost £96 next day delivery.
