Yes, I am now considering that it must be either diesel or air ,so I have changed all the leak off pipes there were 1 or 2 which did not seem that tight ,so heres hoping its an air leak . we will see tomorrow when its cold.

Just beeen out to try and start it cold.........and it started perfectly. result. is it possible that the leak off pipes will let in air but not show any leak as such? thats all that I can think it was . another brilliant result from the team. thank you all for your help.

I find the diesel leak is soaked up by the braiding on the pipe.

You could use Alan`s useful tip and put heat shrink on the ends of the pipes to help them seal better or small cable ties as I did on mine.

Yes I have. car starting perfectly now, just shows how a small "out of spec" component causes problems

from my local auto shop. not a big job to change them anyway so will probably do them every service from now on. saves this problem in future

The o-rings in the 2 connectors perish and start allowing air in. Mine did that. I'm now running a filter from a fiesta without the heated head. No more air leaks.

O'rings on filter can only leak air if the lift pump is duff and fuel is being sucked from the tank by the injection pump.

Not when the plastic and o-rings are that brittle and old. Mine snapped and on closer inspection had small cracks in them
I've not had a single air bubble through since removing it.

Did you change all the leak of pipes ,,Even the bit that goes to the back of the fip from number one injector.;) Another one is banging the bottom of the tank and cranking the engine at the same time ,,,,Needs two people unless uv very long arms.if the itp is failing :D:D:D

So you snapped them trying to get them out, pretty common. The fitting can be repaired. But the air has to be sucked in it does not flow in spontaneously.
