Hi all!
I have been starting and moving the old project P38 around with no problems. Went to move her this week and she doesn't want to start? Good amp battery, not immobilised, cranks OK but no glowplug light on the dash? I have checked the fuses and relays, checked for any broken or chewed wires, cleaned the ecu contacts, checked earth connections etc.. and tried a resync with syncmate but that comes back as ecu not waking up or recognising becm, did an EKA entry to rule out security issues? Any ideas or enthusiasts in Lincolnshire with diagnostics etc as my stuff is limited for P38?

Start with the basics. Fuel, glow plugs and intank pump. If l that checks out then move on from there. ;)

Have a check of the maxi fuse in the ecu housing behind battery, this is a blown one

It does sound like a power supply fault or Internal fault. A wiring diagram would help to trace the live feed.
Anyone with rave got an idea please?? ;)

Did check the 80a fuse when I took ecu out for connection cleaning. I did check wiring under drivers side dash as I had fitted a new flap release button and thought I might have disturbed something... looked at the inertia switch... does it need resetting and how if I gave it a kick getting in and out, the kick panel has been off doing other jobs. Previous owner was a Farmer and he disconnected the air bags for some reason? The old girl was a good and reliable starter unlike some 2.5 I have owned. The inertia switch may be the issue?

Becm not recognising resync doesn’t sound right.
Slacken the nuts see if you have fuel at injector hp pipes while cranking. The inertia switch on/loss of sync should interrupt the stop solenoid operating, cutting fuel off.

You didnt recently perhaps write to the becm did you? I managed to put my EDC into early mode and that made my car unstartable. Glow plugs etc worked, it just didnt wanna start.
What happend was i were writing/testing stuff in the becm learning the nanocom at an evening.

Not thinking more about it, didnt get to fire it up next morning and so it sat for a week by my dumb, and perhaps quite easy mistake you might not look for.

An easy way to test is just to loosen up the injector pipes and you either get diesel, or in my case high pressured air

You are saying no fuel, bridge the fuel pump relay and take off the hose before the filter, or after as i did and see if theres diesel coming. If there is diesel coming into the diesel filter, check stop solenoid.

Well done that man, not so long ago you were asking for advice and now you're giving it.;):D:D

i cant always just ask :D
Besides, it appears to be a semi like issue this one. Suddently wont start yet cranks. Just like mine, after fiddling with the becm :p

Come on, who'd do such a thing?
