More tub work today-Nearly ready for paint. On the subject of paint, I tried giving my front grille a coat of paint in the chosen colour. Looks purple in the sun but is actually blue. Hopefully will get the paint at some point this week.

Ok, so college finished for the year so now it's the final push to get this finished this summer :)

I plan to have the tub sanded, primed and painted by the end of the week- depending on when I get the paint.

This weekends work had included painting and fitting the slam panel (Which I know is attached wrong), Painting the inside of the bulkhead and sorting out my earth relay problem, fitting the exhaust and giving the back axle another coat of paint.

Tomorrows jobs- sand down tub ready to prime, fix all brake pipes and more wiring :(

Spent a whole day on the car 9-7 with only a couple of breaks and half an hour for lunch.
Tub is all sanded ready for painting-took most of the afternoon.
Rear propshaft is attached at diff end.
Handbrake drum is painted.
Repaired most of the bulkhead with chemical metal and stripped off windscreen wipers and the LH flap ready for painting

Put the front propshaft on and ran it with the wheels in the air in all gears and seems to be OK. May have just been due to the box not being under load so fingers crossed its OK. I'll see how it is when it's back on the road.

Went to the paint shop today- Not realising that you cant buy oslo blue in cellulose, I only came away with the primer. Anyway, time to choose a different colour.

Finally got the correct flange bolts in the post this morning so I got the handbrake drum and rear propshaft on and made a temporary handbrake bracket. Test fitted the windscreen just to make sure it was all in line after the welding and repairs.

Got the first coat of primer on the tub this evening, still too warm in my opinion though. This was my first go at spraying so I'm quite happy with the way it came out even for the first coat. Thinking it needs 3 coats of primer, 2 top but we'll see how it goes.

Yesterdays progress, Well sort of. Started the day by giving the tub another coat of primer then prepared the van sides by removing the windows and rubbing down. Got most of the sides painted before the spray gun broke into two pieces :( Anyway new one is on it's way so should be here mid week when I may have got the colour coat. :) Today was getting the inner wheel arches to fit and a bit of modifications were needed to make them fit. Also got the coolant tank painted.

More wiring done- Feels like it's endless.
YRM order came yesterday so I got the other seatbox end fitted so that's now ready for rubbing down and if I can be bothered to cycle to halfords, It may be etch primed by the end of the day. Decided to go coniston green as I think green suits the car more than blue. May get the paint tomorrow or early next week.

Seatbox rubbed down, etch primed and primed yesterday. Paint will happen next week when Im 100% sure on the colour. Made some neat rubber strips to go between the seatbelt brackets on the tub between the aluminium and steel to stop the corrosion.

Finished the welding on the bulkhead, going to fill the gaps with chemical metal and smooth off. May get around to priming the bulkhead depending on how much filler is needed.

Should the sill sit parallel to the tank or should it be at this angle?

Ok so the plan was to show you all what I've managed to get done on the car today by unfortunately the internet at home isn't working so that will have to wait till tomorrow so in the meantime I'll keep you in suspense.

So after 366 days of ownership, I got to the most important stage. The colour was chosen. The car was taken out of the drive and I got the tub, seatbox and sides painted.

The decision was between these three colours and I decided on the middle one (RAL 5011)

I'm really pleased with how it looks even though the paint will need a polish when it's hardened. This has been done with a 25L compressor and siphon feed gun which many people believe is not good enough to paint a car but for me it's worked.

Very nice bud.

That was one of the colour choices to do mine in.

Decided it'd be too dark. But looking at your pics it's not.

But then, That's the problem with RAL colours, People have slightly different shades on the colour chart.

Did you use celly and paint it in the garden?

My neighbours love me when I start painting

Good job mate! One year to choose paint is good going. Took me 2.5 years to choose between white and bronze green.... Then another year to get an MOT. You're flying through this!
Keep the photos coming
