Cheers guys

Im not aiming for perfection but aiming for it looking at least half decent ......hoping to use it for our wedding car next july...... I have my work cut out,

Right after tonight.... Went to get the bolts for the wheel cylinders- thatll be the first car ive ever got wheel cylinders for that hasnt come with the fixing bolts. ####ing knobs.

5/16unf is not a nut i keep in stock.....

Impact driver removed all the 3ba cheeseheads from my fuel tank so saved my sender qnd feed/returns woo.

New drums ordered today , fuel tank gasket kit and rubber bush.and m10 x1 male + female fittings for my brakes and a bunch of the clips for on top of the rails. If im still here at the weekend hopefully get the engine and box in.

Zip ties ok along the axles? - thats all that was there when i stripped it....i know it wasnt ok for my fuel lines on the chassis of my frontera had to drill and self tap in p clips :(

Other than a couple of fittings I can pick out of that lot, have you got the pipes yet? I bought a kit of cupro-nickel (Kunifer supposedly non corrode) pipes and fittings and it came with the clips to hold the lines - plastic bag at right of box.

Aye ive got a roll of copper pipe in the garage from past projects , was just gonna whip up my own as wasnt that kit about 85 quid ?

Chassis Plastic clips are about 19p plus vat on lr series but they wont work on the axle

T pieces were 5 quid each and fittings were 8 quid for ten of each.

Pipe was buttons for a 15m roll. I used about 15 inches last time :)

I went copper over kunifer as copper easier to flare :)

use fuel hose as a stand off.. lets see if i can find a pic.

like this, but using fuel pipe and a bit smaller

Arggh no deliveries today, bar my 3 ba screws.

Mrs is away and i cant actually do anything.

My gaskets for fitting sender and feed/returns are in there , as are my drums paddocks (6 quid) next day service is easily the best out of all the parts co's....you might not get what you ordered but itll be with you next day,,,,,even up here in the highlands (as most delivery cos call it cause im 1 mile past culter )

My brake fittings didnt come either :(

Cant do a damned thing tonight - except go and check i have a rear main seal for the fly wheel housing in stock so i can get the engine/box on wt weekend

Ah well found a bottle of RoK ipa in the fridge and the fires lit.

Tv night.

Tis moist out. Got one rear brake finished and working well , was just doing tuther when it pished, got the fuel tank auxuluarys in

So has anyone built their own 200tdi airbox bracket.

Discovered during inventory check my box of bits is short of one...and since you cannae buy em ill have to make one,

What sort of gauge steel are they made out of ? 1mm ? 1.5mm ? The shape doesnt look too hard, got a press , already found the clips for the clamp everything else is just fabrication.

FFS... don't use copper for brake pipes... you share the road with me

They are in fact illegal to use in the USA, Canada and Australia... no doubt many other countries as well.

legal here and perfectly acceptable and safe , so not worth wetting your pants over

It's not safe... Copper work hardens and is prone to fracturing/blowing out

The EU will shortly be making it illegal as well from what I read.

not if its secured properly and its not some thing anyone has seen i bet unless we are talking decades in which case any other pipe material will be buggered then anyhow , the greatest problem with brake pipe is localised rust on steel

And steel she be rusting out ... But those aint illigal.

Was copper lines on it when i got it, there has been no issue, just changing due to ease of access.

My frontera had copper lines through out for a couple of years - no issue,,,,

one other thing...

you can buy thin wall 3/16s copper tube that is not brake line.

you can buy thicker wall 3/16s tube that is brake line.

not all copper tubing is suitable for brake line.

I only buy from my local motorfactor for that reason - what you get on ebay/amazon and such like is "unknown"

braided lines give me more cause for concern based on what ive seen with them.
