Not greAt progress on the landy today but did get points in the bank with the mrs.... Points = shiny bits and time to work on it without moans.

Also fixed my pressure washer- as we know every landy owner needs one of them.

Used to have a threaded barb to a venturi nozzel detergent feed....only the barb broke. And i couldnt get the right size barb- venturi principal relys on the barb size or it doesnt suck it blows- as i found out while blowing up the detergant tank so.... Tapped the hole , chemical metal round a bolt , screwed it in and for bib and braces fitte a jubalee clip- since it is 120bar :)

Tested it and it works better than it has for a long time and no leaks :)

Happy days.

Great thread and all so familiar to mine as it's a 1986 model. Fitted new outrigger this weekend but moved from gasless to hobbygas welding and so far more happy to weld for me now. Did you manage to get paint on the chassis inside to outrigger? Not figured out how am goin to get paint into all the inside nooks and crannies.

Keep up the pics lovin it

Cheers , as much for my own ref as anyone elses -reminds me of how far ive come so i dont let it mount up in front of me.

As for painting . Im going for - get the welding done , get the outside covered in a few coats of tetrosyl chasssi black and then getting the shultz gun out and blasting a free tin of wax oyl i aquired into all the nooks and crannies i can get the hose into.

Also going to underseal the front of the bulkhead ,good and propper while its out. The inner arches under the wings the front and rear outriggers and underside of the tub - the black bitunemous stuff

You've made a cracking job of that staircase. That's got to = plenty of shiny LR parts. :D

hopefully it will - back in the office today :(

time to look for tubular front turrets (gwyn lewis turrets and cones in one are good value but fooking bogging looking) , dislocation cones , spring retainers , shocks.

Email YRM and get my correct bulkhead foot sent out- their screw up and the other floor pan my screw up !

and locate some nicer axles to use in the rebuild - was totting up the cost of rebuilding mine

when i can get the car off the mrs later in the week i have a pile of stuff to come into work to go in the dip tank before i spray em.

jesus H jones.

those bushes in the radius arms and A frames gave some motherfunking fight.

using a 10T press, managed to get all the radius arms out without too much difficulty - i dont think they were the originals - they were not perrished and cracked like the A frames.

the a frames - ive got all the rubbers out and ive got of the metal outers out .... the other - i broke the 1 inch thick plate on the press trying to get it out - oops - a full 10 tonnes and its still in situ :S

Ill cut it into 4 tonight with the sawzall and chap it out.

for now they are bathing in acid along with all my brackets i could find this morning.

Pretty reasonably clean for minimal effort. few bits to clean up with the die grinder where the thick corrosion is stuck on but im happy

They look great. Even the cast number on the radius arms looks sharp. Impressive for a 1987 vehicle.

im off to look at a 200tdi defender engine and lt77 tonight - thatll be a nice easy swap from the 19j thats in there.

mmmmmm the joys of driving an ugly car - can just lob an engine in on the way home and still get 45mpg.

PMSL, love the bungee cord .. 'cos that'll never shift .. ;)

it was leaning towards the seat - the bunji cord was to hold it over till i got the tailgate shut - it was wedged between tailgate and the back seats.

that looks a really tidy engine....heard somewhere that the gold indicates it's been overhauled.....or am I thinking about the Gold Seal engine thing back in the day?

tis very clean , normally id be very suspicious of that but the guys other cars , his chat , his photographs on the wall of his previous builds , his tools he had round the workshop - all screamed of pride in his work.

i believe alot of 200tdis if not all had a gold block.
