Here we go with yet another one of my Dad's project Land Rovers. Hopefully this year is the year that it all starts coming back together, with a new chassis and "new" engine.

As far as we can tell from the history of the vehicle it was used in the military and used to be (still registered as) a petrol 2.25L. It had a 2.25 diesel inside (i think, I will have to check exactly what one though) fitted. It didn't run. The chassis is a bit rotted, and so is the bulkhead. But more or less everything else was fine. It sat in a field for years just outside of Aberdeen. Bare in mind, we are from Kent. My Dad being an actual mad man, not even joking at times. His ideas are insane, but he does just get on and get things done. Even if the idea is crazy.

He literally bought the 109, paid the deposit and then a few months later bought a lorry, called it Jane and off he went on a 3 day trip up to Aberdeen, seeing some friends on the way to stop off. I remember him asking me to go with him but at the time I had a lot of Uni work going on. He picked it up in June/July of 2014 and it was a complete vehicle. I took some photos of it on the back of so called Jane and since then it's been taken apart to see what needs to be done, and then unfortunate circumstances in family life meant it was on the back burner. Hopefully this year though, things should come back together. Much like with the Series 2a lwb I am trying to restore for him in the background.

Been meaning to start this thread for a whole but I didn't want to post it and lose it until I thought work would actually start.

Anyway, I'm sure you would all like some photos of the allusive 109 FC.

Here is my Dad looking rather pleased with himself for doing the silly journey there and back with his new toy.

And then after much thought and mulling it over, the look of despair of where to start...

A few months past and then we decided to strip it to inspect the damage. The engine came out, gearbox etc (will talk about engine plans later) interior, doors and then the rear wooden sides etc came out that will be replaced and refreshed also.

Was quite apparent that the chassis wasn't in need of repair, it was in need of complete replacement!

I do have some more photos laying around somewhere, will have to find them. Took me ages to find the first photos I took of it, I will see if I have a copy of the photos that were on ebay when dad bought it but I highly doubt I will be able to find them.

Anyway, might be a little while before the project is updated further but I will keep it updated whenever there is next any updates. I hope you all enjoy.

Keep us informed of the progress & plenty of photos
Family member has received their 2B from Australia & is converting this to a flat bed/camper.
Good luck

Got some more photos of when he first got it

This was taken in Aberdeen just after he loaded it up

The chassis looks OK to me, just needs the bubbling paint scraping off and repainting. If I was him I'd keep it on the back of Jane and just drive around in that.

I'd love a forward control, my neighbours have gotten over the shock of my lwb stuck in thier view so I need another wow factor to keep them talking about me to each other.

Unfortunately once poking it holes appear, the chassis was also separating at the back.

Also it's a 2a not a 2b. 2b's had the headlights lower down, plus this is 3 years too old to be a series 2b as it's 1964 and the 2b came out in 1967
