Hi series lovers

I don't know if any of you saw the grey 1958 car on ebay last week

1958 LAND ROVER Series II 2 litre petrol barn find very original | eBay

well I bought it on behalf of a mate of mine - collecting mon 23rd.

It will be going off to his collection in the new year when we have been through it and sorted a blow on the manifold, rebuilt the carburettor and fixed a small rad leak.

that is all it needs.

It is absolutely and totally original - apart from two tiny bits of filler which will be removed.

Original engine, seats, paint inside and out, glass, etc.

So so lovely......................................

It has been on here before, and over at the series 2 forum there is a bit of banter over the originality and value etc, but apart from losing the original registration it is a lovely motor.

I looked at that, was so tempted but couldn't justify that sort of money. Plenty of pics please :D

for some reason it had been put on a 1963 A suffix but the owner had it put back onto a 1958 number

it will be Swiss-registered anyway in due course as the new owner wants to use it every day to drive round his estate and into the village - and when he drives down to his museum to inspect his collection - he is the chap who purchased Churchill's car, by the way.

It was also featured in the LRO january 2014 edition,

the new owner doesn't care about the money - what he wanted was a 100% original unrestored 1958 car - when I told him about it he just wired me the money and instructed me to buy it.

I wondered what happened to Churchills series, I was there the day it was sold, very exciting stuff. Shame it won't be seen again.

Some collection to have then, I suppose after spending 100K on UKE the series 2 was chump change.

All that actually matters is another series in good hands :)

you can all go over to German/Swiss border to visit the collection if you like - see the link below.

Well worth a visit - the best private collection around - they have perfectly restored examples of just every series model and variant - now they are looking for survivors - original cars as they left the factory.

I have recently started to act as an agent for these guys - I also provide them with high-performance V8 engines for their Range Rover Classic customers.
