No doubt about it................. that silver is WRONG, WRONG WRONG! Looks like one of those cheapo ghetto blasters from the '80s made in Taiwan................................. other than that - good job

How I knew the silver would cause an uproar.
Although to be honest I think all the plastic at the front of a defender, silver or black looks cheap and tacky. But I am more of a series fan. I do quite like the silver at the minute but it is just an experiment, I want it to stand out but not be over the top. As well as look and feel a little bit more modern. It may not show it in the pictures but it was quite heavily taken from standard before I got it. Unfortunately it has to be sold as I apparently 'have too many' but that leaves me in the difficult stage where it's stuck in the middle of original and not original but most of the modifications that have been done to it have improved it so to go for an original vehicle would make it worse. I'm also not a fan of factory restorations, the cars look great but people become afraid to use them and I want this to be used and enjoyed by someone. That's why nothing britpart or of poor quality has been used. I haven't used anything on this or haven't said that'll do. If I wouldn't be happy using a part on my own Land Rover I won't use it on this one and I will never say that'll do on my vehicle it has to be done properly and I'm doing the same with this one. Even though I won't be able to see the benefits of the reliability given by using quality parts, the work I put into this and the standard of work is how everyone will judge me. It's not going to be use the cheapest stuff possible so it's good for a few weeks then run with a huge profit. So hopefully that comes through.

If you're going for re-sale then original is best - that way the new owner can have the fun of doing their own personalisation if that's what they're into......................... just spray it matt black - it'll look so much better, at the moment it's not one thing or another...........................

An interesting read and the work is looking good. :)
I'm getting towards the end of my rebuild (I hope) and I'm planning on painting the rad grille and light surrounds silver. I think yours looks ok, but I'm not 100% convinced. I think I'll still go with it on mine and see what it looks like. Mine is a Defender 90 CSW (1996) Tdi. It's rioja red and I'm hoping the silver goes with that colour ok. I've also bought large, silver, 3D DEFENDER lettering to go on the front of the bonnet to match it. I'm not great with colours

The colour will be sprayed black. But I can't do original because the side steps are welded to the chassis the engine is far superior to the original. The original paint was also brown and I can't see many people saying I want a 2.5na in the heaviest Land Rover vehicle in brown. I just don't like the black surrounds with black paint and the silver breaks it up nicely.

I like it  It looks smart and adds a good contrast to the black paint everywhere else. Personally I might go for orange indicators lenses rather than clear though.
