Hi,
Does anyone know of a 150" defender for sale? I want a single cab flat-bed/alloy drop side 150" wheelbase for my work. I don't mind doing lots of work or building one myself, just wondered if anyone knows of any parts or vehicles that are around? A tdi 150" chassis cab would be ideal?

Just realised my typing mistake- doh! I don't want a 150"!!

I want to build a 130" flatbed single cab. I've looked at a couple of 130's locally- one's a 300tdi, currently with an 8' tipper body.

My question is- can I fit a 10'-11' flatbed on a 130" chassis and carry 1.5 tonnes? I'd fit HD rear springs and fit those "air helper" springs within the coils. I'm thinking of buying a 130, removing the tipper body it's got and fitting a 10'-11' alloy dropside back off a transit.

Landrover's website says the maximum payload on a 130 double cab hi-cap is 1380kg, so I'm guessing that with a single cab and an alloy back 1.5 tonnes should be fine?

Any ideas/advice would be great. Any of you guys built anything like this?

First I nearly cum in my pants cos I think yer wanting to sell a 150. Then I find out yer looking for one and not selling it, and then to cap it all you meant a 130.:mad::mad::mad:

you'd need to build the flatbed and then take vehicle to a ministry weighbridge to have it weighed this would give you the new unladen weight. then deduct this from the MAM of the vehicle to give you your new max allowed loading.


But by the time you'd extended the chassis and fitted the new rear body I doubt if it would be lighter than an existing 130 doublecab.

Yes, that's the kind of thing, but the backs on these are 8' long, which everyone seems to build and sell. I want 10'-11' long and there doesn't seem to be such a thing around, which is why I'm planning on fitting an alloy back from a transit/sprinter onto a 130" chassis.

I just wondered if anyone had any ideas if this is possible, if it's 10 long, there'll be around 6' overhang behind the rear wheels.

you can have this one but its a bloody long drive from Kalgoorlie to Suffolk.

OK here's a few. It has a 3.9 Isuzu 4BD1T pushing it, does 5k's per litre, carries 370litres of fuel and 300 of water but can carry a further 20 jerry cans in the side compartments. There's not many of these around. A friend of mine in Kalgoorlie has one and its the next chassis number. I don't know of any more in West Australia.

Awesome, thanks :) Looks like a mightily impressive vehicle, but 5km per litre? That's about 11 mpg! :eek:
 
LR special vehicles already manufacture a 147" Defender, for safari in africa

Land Rover Defender 147

I;m sure they could build you one, but it would be brand new and cost a small fortune!

other than that, you could fabricate a 130 hcpu yourself from a couple of donor vehicles.

Says on there that they cost from about 360,000R, which in GBP is about £32k.
 
According to this article the cost was $220000 and I know a few more bucks were spent by the next owner. It weighs 4980kg when empty and has 4.7:1 diffs hence its fuel economy or lack of. Not bad compared to a mates Nissan patrol petrol which is almost the same.
