A guy on here is looking for a basic v8 for his 90. He has a diesel that may be spare. You want diesel and he wants v8, not sure where this is going....

I'm looking for a basic V8 for my 90 but it is a 2.5 petrol, not much more fuel efficient than a V8  but a lot more perky than a diesel
@EeEk please contact me if you are interested.....:D

My previous V8s (90, 110, RRC) were all lpg, and with the appropriate mixer (BLOS) & ignition advance module, the were just as good on gas as on petrol but roughly 1/2 the price. Note, all 3 above V8s were high compression engines which gets more out of lpg than low comp engines. Unless one goes for an all singing & dancing sequential injection system, they can be installed and removed fairly easily without impacting the originality of the truck.

Theres a very big chance the V8 will be coming out :) I could easily stick it on a pallet as im not very local to you :D

V5 says its a 15g - Land Rover 90/110 8.13:1cr . not looked at the actual engine number. I'll have a look tomorrow and see what it is.

I've had lpg'd 3.5 and 3.9 before. I've almost all of a lamda controlled kit here...everything except the tank....problem here is lack of LPG. 12 miles to the nearest lpg pump....then about 40 to the next one. Thats why the kit is in the shed :) It cost 10 lts of gas and half an hour to fill it up.

Aye in an ideal world where petrol was free Id have a v8 any day but 10mpg in an old 3.5 just to have a cool noise is probably not going to happen :)

A td5 might have been found :)

Anyone want a V8 starts and runs and has driven 10 feet :)

Engine conversion or new car?

Your looking at mounts, fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel delivery system, ecu and wiring harness, gearbox swap and bulkhead modifications along with some changes to the dash binnacle.

Far cheaper and easier to keep the V8, along with the added bonus of originality if you plan to sell.

Lets not also forget that diesel's future is uncertain.

Could be the old trap of "false economy".
What will the conversion cost in materials and time, then consider, all you're talking is the difference in fuel consumption, it's not like the diesel is for free and the petrol costs three times as much, where I live diesel fuel is also 10cents per litre dearer than unleaded.
Something many people who buy new 4x4's seem to overlook, is that the premium cost of a diesel powered version of a vehicle will buy lots of petrol to run the petrol powered version which costs far less to service and can be generally cheaper to own all round.
Think about what you are doing carefully, the Rover V8 is a great unit.

The old 3.5 is venerated as almost "bullet-proof". Though I am not so sure.
Certainly the changes made to enlarge it to 4.0/4.4 and 4.6 did not do it any favours.
But it just sounds so absolutely "right". The 'burble' can't be beaten. ;)
I also like the flathead ford V8's and they are even older.
