Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone has had problems insuring a vehicle like this. Its an ex electricity board 110. When i have given the Insurance Companies the reg number it comes up as a double cab but to me it looks like a van. Have just cancelled my policy with admiral due to their inability to find the vehicle. Will be trying adrian flux tomorrow. Any suggestions and is it a van or double cab?

Thanks in advance.

Thats what I thought but it was made by Special Vehicles division so i wonder if thats why it comes up as a double cab? Could the chassis be a bit different or something? Just want to make sure its correct for the insurance.

I take it you dont need to be a farmer to get insured with them? Mods have been a bugger due to all the extra lights, beacons, Hydraulic Winch, Ladder racks etc.

The only other problem I have is 1 minor non motoring conviction which resulted in a £250 fine and a rap on the knuckles. I know some Insurance companies wont insure you because of this but heres hoping

Shouldnt matter.

FP dont even need no claims.

Fully comp 3.0 V6 Shogun £210

Land Rover might be more or less....not sure.

Ive got a former Yorkshire Electric 110 Special Vehicles build, pto winch and roofrack, told insurance about both, all they asked was 'are they factory fitments, if so no problem' That was Aviva. Its on the forms as a special vehicles build with winch and rack, asked about a standard van version and price was same.
Heres the fun part, was only 20 when i got the landy so hardly anyone would even give me a quote, ended up over a grand :(

try Lancaster
have had loads of mods to go on policy they just said no probs we understand land rovers and kept price the same.
looks like special build or just 110 utility

Thanks for all the advice guys. It has, like solid metal bdges on the sides and bck which say Land Rover Special vehicles and the chassis plates have LR Special vehicles also, so I presume it was built to the Scottish Electric company spec but I will look into this, just for fun!!

Tried frank pickles but they wont insure me as its my daily drive and not a second car. Adrian Flux gave me quite a good quote, just waiting for a call back from nfu. Much better service than from Admiral. I think they are the worst insurance company I have ever been with. Insured with them for over 7 years and guess what? They are refusing to give me any no claims bonus WTF! Was on the phone for over 2 + 1/2 hours to India, could hardly understand a word so just gave up and cancelled my policy with them:5bbeatdeadhorse5:

I have the Range Rover V8 with these:

I am 25, 3points insured for 12k per annum and a vehicle value of 5k its £320 a year to include breakdown and legal assistance, I have no claims but they are not interested in them but hold them on file so you can keep building them up.

A good friend who is 40, has the same car but older and pays over £500 without breakdown.

I dumped my insurance company as they were being arsey about a payment and cost me fees from the bank.

Rang up Adrian Flux and got the same deal for less including green laning, off road and 3rd party on any vehicle, asked about mods and told em the bull bar and thats it. Found them to be very helpful and pleasant on the phone, docs arrived 2 days later and all done.

Would recommend as well, cheaper than any mysupermarket.com or any other online broker could get me.
