spent months looking for 110sw to turn into camper but having 2nd thoughts bout saving bit by buying h/top and can spent savings on a better conversion/more beer
just one thing i need to check out 1st before i part with cash
how easy is it to fit rear sliding windows
has anyone fitted rear windows to a hardtop
is it fairly straight forward ie cut hole,stick window in
or best left to profesionals

looking at my 110CSW it looks very simple, though these where already fitted when I bought the car, half a dozen rivets hold each frame in place and some brackets on the inside so it should be as simple as cut holes and insert

ask around on here, there are a few lads want hardtops and have windowed sides fer a straight swap

Hi all

I am about to do the same thing. I have a 110 van, but would like to fit square (custom built) windows. Anyone know where to buy the glass and the rubber sealing strip. Also someone I know said I need a special tool (very technical person!!) for cutting the hole in the side panels!!! Surely a hacksaw should do?

I reckon a jigsaw with a blade meant for softwood would take some beating on the noise front - might be wrong there I spose.

Dynamite or detcord would probably be the outright 'noisiest' - but then there's not much of a longevity to the noise like there is with a jigsaw

Hammer and chisel would be pretty annoying but wouldn't make a neat job.

ok, i've fitted the original LR side windows to my landy back 2 yrs ago. this has the metal frame which makes it easier to install. you can fit frameless ones, but that's another story.

what happened was, i got some guys to do it, but in a nut shell, here's how it's done.

1. measure the window
2. stick masking tape on the panel which you want to cut.
3. draw the measurements onto them
4. drill a few large holes away from the line (you prolly don't want to cut too much off.)
5. insert the saw blade into the hole and cut along the line which you have marked out on the masking tape. this also protects the paint work.
6. grind down the access and straighten the cuts up.
7. remove or grind off the support for the panel. there's 1 in the middle on a d90 and 2 on a 110.
8. hold window into place. mark out the holes on the masking tape thru the frame.
9. remove the frame and drill the holes
10. peel off the masking tape.
11. fit the seal onto the window frame. check and double check it's pasted properly or it will leak.
12. hold the window with frame and align the holes up and pop in the 12 riverts.
13. make sure you use the correct reverts that allow for the rubber cover to still sit into the groove to create the complete finish.
14. proceed to do the other side from 1 to 13.
15. all done.
