No, mine doesn't it's just 2 pulleys on a central metal lump if you see what I mean, the new one was 3 pulleys and a large metal thing in the back that looks similar to the old pulley but bigger and heavier.

Normanlaw - steering thing was a doddle to fit, took about 20mins for the bar and about 4 hours to fit an entire pas setup with breaks for lunch and stuff

Why do you need a three belt pulley? Do you have aircon?

You run a N/A dont you?
The original basic pulley would have had a torsional vibration damper according to my parts books.

often the 3 belt pulley is all thats available as theres no point in stocking 2 belt as well as 3 does both

Maybe I am imagining the difference then!

The single and double pulleys were superseded by the triple pulley - that was what was on the TD the lot came off, the twin pulley I already had was for the normal alternator and the 24 v military alternator and didn't line up with the pas pump so I had to change it

Thanks I'll get one!

You have to make a spacer for one side - it's easy. When you get yours let me know and I will tell you what to do to fit it if you want.
I can cut a spacer for you if you don't want to

That's very kind; I'll contact you when I get one.

okay so passed the MOT with no advisories which was nice so treated the old girl to:

new engine oil and filter
new diff oil (rear came out grey?)
new transfer box oil
new main box oil
new air filter
new glowplugs (had a cold start issue)
and last month it had new belts and brake fluid and the coolant is only a year old so that all gravy just checked the mix and all fine.

Its driving really nice, well happy

Ed

oha nd if glowplugs 3 and 4 came out a bit wet, 3 barely and 4 damp, would this indicate weeping injectors?

1 and 2 came out bone dry and light grey/brown in colour, 3 and 4 were more black

Nice, I suppose there so basic there isn't too much to fail on.

i was worried about emissions where i had injector pump issues earlier in the year and it was a bit smokey that was about it though. The guy said it was about a 3rd off maximum allowed though so that is pleasing.

I do try keep it in good nick and inspect underneath regularly and kind of have a rolling program of replacing stuff and changing stuff when i am working in the area.

This year will be shocks +/- springs, the rears are to hard, and while i am in the area will do bushings and spring mounts etc as i am there with it in bits.

I will follow with interest. I know we have talked about springs before as mine are also rock hard.

repositioned my CB radio today down on the lower dash in front of the hand brake and also fitted new tailgate rubbers.

Found some wires behind the dash that i can use for an extra gauge in the blank slot.

Thought? A clock or what?

Great thread! And nice looking landy.

I've done some digging on springs and struggled to find kits that don't give a lift at the same time. Found a link here though that gives spring rates which is useful -land rover spring specifications.

Only problem is I can't tell the colour mine started life, so can't work out whether they are the 286 or 451 lb/inch military versions listed. What state are your originals in? Any colour left? Tempted to go with a set of standard 90 ones (NRC9446-9449) and see what happens...

Yeah that was my plan, and no I can't see the colours in mine either even after removing on and cleaning it.

I don't want a lift just want it to stop kidney punching me over every bump!

Okay have swapped my rear springs for standard 90 items. Easiest job I have done yet, took about half an hour start to finish. Everything came undone really easy.

instantly better ride, less harsh and choppy and the front and back feel more balanced. it has also dropped about 20mm-ish (although I didnt measure) off the back so it sits 'level' now.

For £40 for the springs and half an hour or so of my time i am well pleased.

So have you left the front as HD ones? We're they new springs or second hand? I noticed this weekend About 1/2t in the back of mine makes it sit level.

No the 90 GS like mine only has HD rears apparently, the front I was happy with anyway it was the back that was flattery unless loaded to the max.

I fitted new springs from paddocks, dampers seemed smooth when retracting and extending by hand so didn't change those.

Think 110 has HD all round and longer springs at the back.

I think the back end of mine doesn't even compress on speed bumps when empty, definitely bounces.
