Ah've noticed the bus has started 'ticking' now and again! it's summit to do with the fuel system but ah don't know where. If ah hold the pipe near where it goes onto the sender on the side of the tank ah can feel it tickin' away constantly when the engines been run for a wee bit. Ah don't think there's a fuel pump on top of the tank as ah think these were mainly on petrol models and why have a mechanical pump AND an electronic one for the 200tdi's? Ah've bin told they started puttin' them in the 300's but not sure.
Anybody got any ideas?
Cheers
;) :D

Forgot tae say that when ah went tae change the fuel filter before ah went me hols, it was only half full! Dunno if it's got anything to do with me prob or not but just thought ah'd mention it;) :D

iof it has a flexi rubber fuel pipe anywhere they can go hard and yer get a ticking in time with teh fuel pulses

Just went and had a look at the pipes and they're the plasticky type. The tickin's certainly loud enuff cos ye can hear it over the noise of the engine!
Cheers Slob;)

Its just the pulses of the lift pump.

Or the taliban have been at it.
Why those talibani bastids!!

If it is the pulses from the lift pump, why doesn't it do it all the time and not just some of the time? It's only really started doin' it recently.
;) :D

If it only does it when the engine is warm, perhaps its the cam on the arm for the lif pump? Cos if it is only when warm, then the thinner oil will make any play like that more apparent. Just a thought.

Changed the lift pump and all seems well for now, no tickin'. Ah'm keepin' me ear open tho';) :D
